A Music Blog (#17: Could you repeat that please?)
This time around, the song's youtube video gets put in the spoiler tag because I feel like trying something after this song's existence was brought up last month in irc. I was asked to identify the song given only what was thought to be the lyrics of the chorus, which was well off... but I knew enough about the song to know that it's one lots of people aren't sure what is actually sung. XD
So! Your challenge, should you choose to accept it, is to play the sound player below and post what you think was being sung before opening that spoiler tag with the song in full! Or the lyrics spoiler. Because that's be cheating.
Heard it? Good! Haven't! A pox on you!
Alternate Link!
Lyrics:
The song itself is alright imo as well so that's a bonus. Verses might be a touch lacking in sound imo but the chorus is darn catchy regardless of it you know what they are singing, haha. And the way he sings 'wailed' is pretty neat too; adds a lot to the song. The sounds played to what I take is imitating the jet fighters is a bit annoying imo though; might have been better without it.
As for the song topic? It's about a shareef banning music while people fight back, hence the name of the song. Given the last word is not very well known (it is Arabic in origin) it's easy to mistake what is being sung, but it basically means fortress/citadel.
The video is alright; amusing dancing by the two actors there and who doesn't like armadillos? =p This song is apparently the highest charting worldwide for the band who also have some neat stuff in say London Calling and casual songs like Should I Stay or Should I Go?.

I couldn't hear the song in the sound player so I went ahead and opened up the spoiler to see what it was. I would have identified that song pretty quickly lol.
But then, I do listen to a lot of music from that era, so that'd explain why.Posted August 1st, 2012 at 8:27 PM by

Your claim to fame! =pQuote:As the person who brought this up to you in IRC last month, I will admit that I thought the lyrics were "hump the dance floor, hump the dance floor" lmao
Yeah, as said once you know what the song is then it's hard to forget when you hear it. And odd with that music player; did it fail for other people? Because the sound player worked, and still works, for me. Bah.Quote:I couldn't hear the song in the sound player so I went ahead and opened up the spoiler to see what it was.
