"Megan, I love the honesty you put into your blog."
"I admire how you write. Keep it up."
"Please keep blogging!!!"

*performs CPR on blog area* CLEAR!

Alright! I finally sucked the dust out of this blog, cringed at my previous entry, and took every single comment I've received as a compliment. I know a few of you were wondering why I haven't been blogging for a while. The past year was...something, to be honest!

Not many of you know by now...but, I switched careers. I decided to abandon my B.S. degree in Information Technology and pursue my dream: to become a writer and/or a journalist. This was on my mind for a long time and it all started with a visit to Starbucks in Austin along with some deep thinking. Honestly I didn't feel like I was going anywhere with my degree, let alone I've been abused by several companies who want someone like me to travel without pay as their go-getter. I don't think Houston is the right area to pursue a career in IT. At the same time, I didn't want to relocate yet. I wasn't ready. I know I'll make use of the degree someday.

So, I returned to school, already completed a year, and now I am on track to complete my A.A thanks to the previous coursework I have done. I am currently doing an internship on-campus as a Public Relations specialist. (I don't even know if I want to do PR...it is way different). I also joined the newspaper staff as an editor. At the same time I am beginning to formulate my portfolio online. It has been such a drastic change from 2017 to today, but this change is for the better. And the good news? I already have a job lined up after I graduate. :)

I usually tell people that it's okay if you make a career change. There's always time to do so. If you feel that Bachelor's Degree in <whatever subject you majored in> is not gonna do you any good, that's okay! Doesn't matter if you are 20, 21, 27, or even 30+. Don't shame yourself just because you are tired of your current field and want to make a change. Sometimes change is...pretty bad, but I've come to the conclusion that *SOME* change in your life is for the better. It's a way to improve yourself.

Another event that happened during the past year is I am now a "momma cat".

PC, meet Chase.
Spoiler:

And no, I didn't really name him after our resident admin (sorry chase lmao but i still <3 ya). Long story short, earlier this year I took in a stray cat who turned out to be pregnant with kittens. On April 17th of this year she gave birth at a neighbor's house across the street where I live, and eventually she carried all three kittens (one by one), inside my house. It felt like she trusted me. Sadly a month later, the stray cat passed away due to an infection. So I was left bottle-feeding the three kittens. Days later, two of her kittens perished. One kitten survived, and eventually I named him Chase; after the NASCAR driver Chase Elliott.

Chase was the only one out of the three kittens that came out strong and healthy. He started running at four weeks, eating big cat food at six weeks, and climbing on furniture at eight weeks. He will be seven months old this month, and his adopted momma cat couldn't be happier!

I still need to do some cleanup here in this blog, as well as make the blog section a little more lively! Not as active as it was the past few years, but we can do this!
