"Stop trying to be someone you're not."

While I don't actively act like someone I'm not, I wanted to talk about something a bit...just really quickly.

Back between when I was super active in Pokemon anime and then super inactive after well, incidents, I guess, I changed my username from Euphonium to this one to rebrand myself, I suppose. Well... that didn't really work out for me. I don't feel like me with this username at all. I'm waiting for the 22nd to roll around so I can be done with this one forever.

But, part of me doesn't want to go back to Euphonium, I feel like part of me wants to stay in the confines of my own little Shadow Realm (ha ha, Yu Gi Oh joke) but maybe I'll just go back anyway. I don't like using Japanese words as names because it feels like people would look down on me if I did, which is why I won't.

I guess we'll see how I feel about it. I don't know.

Maybe it isn't so much about picking a name that fits you so much as picking a name that you fit into. I suppose if you keep trying new names you might find one that clicks, but if you keep switching from name to name I can see it being pretty difficult in the way of making it your identity. Well, assuming you don't find one that you like early on.

In regards to the whole "Japanese words as names" thing, I honestly don't think, for the most part, that people here think that 2 dimensionally. Hell, if I did, I wouldn't be able to parade around with a name like machomuu, heh. But machomuu's who I am, and as silly as it sounds, it's been who I am for almost 13 years now. If people don't take me seriously, I just show sincerity, because that's all I can do. Because at that point machomuu becomes a person rather than an odd word that people have to ask about to understand. And damn if this name doesn't make me feel comfy.

I hope you'll find a name for yourself that's just as comfortable.

As someone with a Japanese name, I'd tell you to go for it. Cuz the nicknames earned tend to be cooler than the names you've chosen, and you can just go with that.

But on an incredibly honest side, I can empathize with what you've experienced, even if you don't include many details. Mentioning the name I used to go by to certain places can be an easy trigger. Not that I'm willing to say what name it was, as various incidents in years past have turned it quite infamous. My previous identity has died, since childhood habits tend to do so, but I'm nonetheless ashamed of it. So in a way...

You shouldn't try to be someone you're not, and you shouldn't mimick someone else. But refining yourself for the purpose of growing into a better human being is okay enough. If I can do it, so can you.

Well, I've been through the hurdle of name change once or twice, one of them which happened in here. Once I wanted to switch to one username in particular, but several days after switching to that name, I decided to change back due to some circumstances (bad timing due to tech incidents somewhere), plus I think Starry Windy fits much better for me.

If you feel like you wanted to switch back and feel that your previous name Euphonium fits you much better, then go for it. If you wanted to find a new name, though, I hope you'll find the username that fits you much better. It's up to you, so just be yourself, and you're good. :)

Musique I remember that was your name when we first interacted. Kinda makes me nostlagic for some odd reason, it only has been a year :)

But hey... Do what feels natural to you, If you want to change your name to fit who you feel you are, or just picking a name that you love. Choose what makes you happy.

Whether it be Musique, Euphonium, or Mezzo, whatever crazy name you pick for yourself. You'll always be Kory to me :D
