For everyone's liking (and if you want to) throw up one of your favourite art pieces into my comments! They could be made from a friend, or even made by yourself and you're proud of it! I love to see art- and I love to see other art appreciation!

I think every once in a while I'm going to devote part of my PC blog to celebrating some art. As you may or may not know, I'm an artist and in my last year of school for animation. I love cartoons; all of them. I admit I have my favourite tastes.. but recently I've felt a strong love for some stylized realism.
I really recently feel like nowadays.. if you don't draw "animus" then your art isn't as interesting to the youngins' eyes..

Above is a picture I recently.. re-found. I had saved the picture before because I just LOVE how much life is in the skirt- something SO hard to capture.. and something I tend to struggle with.

Hands! Lighting! Form! I dare you to try to draw a hand- let alone paint one with such calibre! I know I can't do it, yet. And believe me, I solely practice drawing hands (stylized and realistic) once a week. Hands matter MORE than the body sometimes for expression! If you disagree with me then take a look at this page:
http://books.google.ca/books?id=qGKD-xh_rLsC&pg=PA89&lpg=PA89&dq=stanchfield+2+hands+body&source=bl&ots=eMM-K42g1M&sig=gQSjnA4Erif0qYw_Y4BWtmG943g&hl=en&ei=uxiYTOvNBcGDnQftlZGRDw&sa=X&oi=book_result&ct=result&resnum=1&ved=0CBQQ6AEwAA#v=onepage&q&f=false

ACTION! Another hard thing to get! I do see a lot of action in some great cartoons, even anime! But sometimes the masters can capture it so flawlessly- from their imagination!

Claire Wendling.. one of my absolute favourite artists! I'm sad because most of her books are expensive or out of print.. but I find her to be one of the BEST. To be able to render realistically from her head.. and then to stylize.. well it takes a master to do both so well.

Don't let drawing "like a master" discourage you! If you love drawing, do it! Each time you do, you get better and better. Find your own style- even if it IS anime! If you enjoy doing it, don't let anyone stop you! But remember.. drawing from life strengthens your skill.. because cartoon is DERIVED from life (it's an interpretation of life!) So don't draw big eyes because everyone else is doing it- do it because YOU find it aesthetically pleasing!

lol No one will probably give two and a half muks about this blog, but I just wanted to throw it out there for my own inspiration- as well as to inspire others.

    I forgot to mention.. the first picture is by Jo Chen. She does both realistic AND anime VERY well. The picture I posted is a mixure of both.. but here's more so there's more of a distinct difference;

    And the second is by Saskia Gutekunst; another great artist!

    Easily my favorite Pokémon art to date, a beautiful visage of color.

    I'd also put the Mona Lisa on here, but that seems too generic. However, I have a special love for it considering I've seen it with my very own eyes. It's amazing <3

    I don't know who made this, but I really like this piece for some reason. I just have a thing for art that can only be viewed from a single point I guess.

    ^ That one was made by Tim Noble and Sue Webster, easily one of my favourites. I had to study it sometime during the last year since we were focusing on light and shadow.

    I'd post my favorite piece of art, but it's not community appropriate. ;o;

    No, I don't wanna hear no BS about having a dirty mind...[s]I was doing what guys like to do when[/s] I stumbled across this gem. Seriously, all genre distinctions aside, if genre didn't matter, the image and drawing quality are top notch.

    I could post something else though...but I have too many secondmost favorites to post...half of which would probably come right from Siggy's DA or blog. [s]Or Forest_Grovyle's[/s] XD

    Sooo.....*points at Siggy's avatar*

    I think all of those are freaking wonderful pieces! Seriously.. the shadow one is really intriguing, too :3
    And to be honest.. unless it has sexual content.. why the heck not post it? Just because it has breasts or a penis doesn't make it any more or less artistically controversial.. that's what I think, anyways. :/ To be honest.. I think more suggestive anime used it people's signatures around here are more inappropriate than an artist's rendition of a pair of breasts. (A pair of bouncing anime-boobs are way more suggestive than a drawing of a woman breastfeeding a child.)

    But sadly.. I don't think a lot of people understand this or have appreciation for it..

    A face I did the other night out of boredom (along with like 6 other pages of random sketches) that I ended up liking quite a bit..
