So, Oda's been hospitalized. Apparently, he's got some sort of problem related to tonsils I honestly have no idea about. But yeah, he's not in the state to draw manga right now. And, apparently, as Code said there exist quite a bunch of people who're pissed off at him for not giving them their weekly dose of One Piece. And he's right; I have seen people post "**** you, Oda" threads in some forums.

Honestly, I love One Piece. Everybody knows that. Evident from my constant fanboying and my forumsets. I go crazy when I don't get to read a chapter. My mood deteriorates. It did yesterday. I'm addicted. But this is ****ing serious. The mangaka's not well. You're not a real fan if you get pissed off since you didn't get to read a weekly chapter and that too for free while the mangaka might be in serious trouble. You're just utterly disgusting.

This guy doesn't get enough sleep. He starts working at 5 in the morning and goes to sleep at 2 AM. Look it up on the internet. I know he chose to live this life and we're not to pity him for it, yeah, but it's just stupid to expect him to pump out chapter after chapter each week when the guy's barely able to live a healthy life. He literally has millions of dollars with him right now. He can quit the manga whenever he wants. But he's doing it for us; for the fans. We should respect and pray for his well being instead of getting pissed off at him for not doing something that he isn't even obligated to do (quite a large number of people read it online for free; me included). So yeah, to those people - eat ****. You're no fan. You all disgust me.

Get well soon, Oda. Millions will be praying for your safety. Take as much rest as you can. I agree with Code, us fans won't mind if you go for a hiatus - even for a year or two. Just stay healthy. Please.

I'm not a One Piece fan, but I would never wish something like that to anyone. Take those people with a grain of salt. They're just selfish :"fans". I hope he takes care of himself and recovers , praying for his good health.

I know how selfish people can be. And I know that I'm not supposed to pay attention to douchebags like these. Yeah. But it still pisses me off. :(

Honestly, just look at this guy. He writes a freakin' apology to his fans for being unwell!

CCC (official translator of mangarule) on arlongparkforums said:
A message from the author, Oda Eiichiro sensei, to all his readers, regarding One Piece's hiatus

This is a real blunder!
I tried enduring a bit too much, but that just made the problem worse.
To you, the readers who are looking forward to the rest of the story,
and to the Strawhat crew, who are looking forward to more rampaging and going wild,
I've really done you wrong.
At the moment, I'm undergoing some painful treatment.
With long-awaited developments coming up in the story next time [next chapter?], I can't wait to have everyone read it.
I full-well acknowledge just how long two weeks can seem to young boys [he uses "shonen" here].
Just hang in there for a bit,
Oda Eiichiro

It's so sad the pace that some of these mangaka are pushed, especially ones who do weekly installations. It's no wonder he's unwell. I hope he gets a chance to recover and maybe slow down a bit or he'll end up in the hospital again.

Yeah, seriously. These guys really do work their ass off. I wouldn't have known had I not stumbled upon articles about Togashi and Oda by accident. :x Honestly, in light of my awareness about the hectic life the mangakas lead, I actually am glad that Togashi takes breaks. Sure, Hunter X Hunter goes on hiatus for long periods of time and Togashi has people call him lazy-ass and stuff but at least he's living a happy and healthy life. At least he knows when to back off. I'm seriously happy about it. So many mangaka die due to the life they lead that it's not even funny.

Wish we fans had a way to get through to Oda and other hard-working mangakas so that we could tell them how much we appreciate their work and wish that they'd slow down when needed. Fans and the story can wait. Their lives are more important.

Yeah, ten years, more or less. Sounds a bit too much, I know, but the story's just like that. Can't be finished just like that in a year or two. I mean, the script of a single arc is virtually the size of a thick 500-600 page book (remember seeing a pic once). And there are like 7-10 arcs to go still.

He seriously needs to take breaks or he'll get burned out soon. His dedication is commendable but jesus he's not a machine ;;
