Eating Right

So after watching some documentaries on netflix I'm feeling like my diet needs to change. That's not to say I'm "going on a diet" since I don't feel my weight's a problem (though I'm a little heavier than I used to be) and because diets are mostly crap. No, I'm going to be introducing very healthy foods into my current diet in the hopes that as I continue the good stuff with slowly replace the bad stuff and I won't feel like I'm missing out on my favorite junk foods and have urges to eat them after a few days of strictly healthy things.

So today so far it's been oranges, eggs, cucumbers, carrots, and some assorted nuts and seeds. I've put the sugar-heavy, processed stuff in the highest to reach places so I have less temptation and am starting to look into the supposedly healthy stuff I usually buy which is nevertheless processed just like my potato chips. I'd hate to get into a trap where I thought I was eating healthy just to find out that I'm taking in as much crap as I am now.

All this I'm doing because I want the energy and willpower and general joie de vivre that people get when they're feeling healthy. I've missed that feeling ever since I've started working full time in an office job that has me sitting on my butt all day without any good food options for lunch and which makes me rush in the morning (so no good breakfasts) and makes me feel too tired to cook dinner many nights. I also hate cooking for the most part, so that'll be another challenge for me.

It's not the first time I've tried to change my habits, but I'm hoping that since I'm only concerned with doing better than I'm doing now, regardless of how much better, this will have a good impact on my day to day life.

I'm really happy to see you trying to change your eating habits for the better. A handy little tip for you though it's not food related. Since you're working in the office, it's a good idea to get up and take a walk for a few minutes during each passing hour. This prevents your blood circulation from slowing down too much and you'll probably find this will help your concentration as you'll be getting more oxygen into your brain. I like to think that I am a pretty healthy person so if you have any questions you can pop me a message <3

This is awesome!! I hope you stick with it, Scarf! It'll take a lot of willpower, but find some healthier options that you still really love (for me it's grapes and pineapple, even if they're high in sugar, it's better IMO than processed sugar) or a square of organic dark chocolate :3 nom!

I have a table spoon of apple cider vinegar in warm water with honey every morning (before you eat anything) - it's super good for your liver, basically flushes all the toxins out of it and speeds up your metabolism. You feel kind of awesome afterwards as well haha

That's a good idea. I'll have to try that out.

And vinegar.... Dx I think I'd rather be unhealthy than taste that every day.
