Monthly Moddity of elmodooscuro Vol. II (Two Door Cinema Club, Matthew McGuigan, How Frozen Should Have Ended) [Daily Bloggity Entry #158]

"Monthly Moddity" is, as the name probably suggests, is a once-a-month edition to the Daily Bloggity that reflects the month's events on a Moderator standpoint, as well as reflecting on goals that I have set myself the previous month. The point of this is to actually get things done as well as working on improving my activity. It will usually appear sometime at the beginning of each month at 5PM Eastern Time.

Not going to lie, August was a pretty wild month - on PokeCommunity and in real life. In such a short period of time a lot of things went down. I said goodbye to my girlfriend as she went off to college, college started back up for me, we said goodbye to fellow Video Game's mod Puck or more known for his alias Libra, as well as welcomed the old yet refreshing face of Video Game's new mod Klippy, and even went through the very, very odd phase of going under a new alias, Dracul, for a short while. But it was an overall a good month in both worlds.

To start off, let's look at past month's goals. I've highlighted my activity on the "stoplight" system: red means poor performance, yellow means there is room for improvement, and green means that the performance met expectations. As such...

• Continue solid activity in Video Games
• Stay consistent with Daily Bloggity
• Work more on my personal attitude towards others and learn self control
• No when to "step up, step back" on specific matters
• Keep producing as much content for other subforums as possible
• Try to find a way to reform the VIP Forum

Video Games has taken quite a change in the right direction in the past month. As a team - myself, Dragon, Libra, and Klippy - we took a "community" approach when it came to the future of Video Games. We left it open to the public for interpretation; early in the month we asked for feedback on the forum and wanted to see what things went well, what things could be improved on, and what things we should outright just get rid of. Overall, we got a pretty good turnout and it gave us quite a lot of positive, constructive feedback to go off of, and I honestly believe that this forum is in a much better and organized place than it was at the end of last month. Furthermore, having Klippy on the team has been a really good thing for the forum as a whole. We've got a lot of upcoming events now coming for the forum thanks to the kick in the arse that we needed, and it's pretty exhilarating knowing what's in store for y'all. Focusing on my activity in the forum, things have been pretty consistent: the Year of Gaming challenges are still a hit - surprisingly - and I just launched a new series after Brendino generously allowed me to adopt an idea of his refurbished into the now Video Game Polls of the Week. It's just another thing that ultimately keeps me interested and fixated on making Video Games a more fun place to hang out in, and as a result I believe we're doing a lot of things right now.

Turning to two of the yellow points - staying consistent with the Daily Bloggity and keep producing as much content as possible for other subforums - both of those were inevitable to result in the way I personally think they did. In mid-August I really wanted to focus on my relationship with my girlfriend, which is why I put a lot of PC related things on the backburner during that time. You may or may not be surprised by this, but when it comes to making entries for the blog they can take anywhere between 30 minutes to an hour to create each entry give or take depending on the type of entry being produced, and trying to manage that, my girlfriend, and two jobs, one of them had to give. And I'm not too worried at this point either even though I now have college going on in my life. I (shockingly) have a lot of free time when it comes to riding the train in and out of Boston, as well as the large gaps between classes considering I can't go home during that time frame. So, when I'm not Netflix because homework is dumb doing my homework, I like to spend my time planning on future entries/events that I'd like to host on PC as a whole.

A huge goal of mine though for the month was to work my interpersonal team skills and controlling my short temper that I've been known to break from time to time. Ultimately though, I think I did a pretty good job containing it. Or maybe it's just that there haven't been that many instances where it's really been tested, but either way I'm moving in the right direction. One obstacle of this that I was able to overcome was my sincere hatred for Skype. For some peculiar reason, I had never been a huge fan of Skype, and as a result shunned myself a little bit from the staff Skype chat group that we have going. It's not on the level that I'd like it to be as of yet, but again, moving in the right direction. And what I mean by "step up, step back" is try to help others without actually stepping on other people's shoes (which could still use some work.)

Finally, we're finally getting some activity going in the VIP Forum. Even though yes, I'll admit, it does look like a monopoly with all the discussions coming from one person, it's still producing much more activity then there used to be there. I've also got an event planned for that section involving some pretty healthy competition, so expect to see that coming soon!

For the month of September, these are my goals:

• Bring back the PokeCommunity Podcast for the Daily Bloggity
• Stay consistent with Meet the PCe'rs for the Daily Bloggity
• Stay consistent with Gotta Catch 'Em All for the Daily Bloggity
• Stay consistent with QOTD for the VIP Forum
• Create an event for the VIP Forum
• Continue building on interpersonal skills on PC and on Skype
• Start up 2 new series for the Daily Bloggity.
• Become more active again on the Battle Server
• Publish September's Coming Soon edition and keep it updated every day with news.
