Rant Rissotto - It's Not Mine!

The Rant Rissotto is an irregular series in which I more or less use an entry to complain about something that happens to be pissing me off. If today's title doesn't give the topic away, don't worry you're about to find out.

One of my very close friends is pregnant. That's not an issue, I'm very happy for her and I think she'll make an amazing mother. What is a problem is that people seem to be under the impression that it's mine.

I mean, I can understand why people (meaning patrons at the dance studio) may think that I suppose. Yes, we are very close and we spend a lot of time together and none of them know very much about our personal lives. I don't think that we've ever indicated we're anything more that good friends though - well not any more but that was years ago so it's irrelevant.

I get it, most of them have never even seen her boyfriend and practically none of them are aware that I have a girlfriend. But I wish that they would just check their facts because I have enough going on right now without having to quell random rumours that might spring up. I mean Jesus people, I talk to a lot of people in the studio and I'm very close to a few of them. I've not knocked any of them up and I'm actually dating one of them. It's hard enough for me to do my job without people constantly asking questions and insinuating things are completely inaccurate.

Of course, it probably doesn't help that when my mother is questioned she never actually says I'm not the father.
"Yes they've known each other for years"
"They're about the same age"
"No she's not been dating her boyfriend that long, but long enough I think."

Thanks Mum. I owe you.

Have you got any weird experiences like this? Any thoughts on mine. Share anything relevant in the comments below.
