"Meet the PokeCommunity'ers" is a series of the Daily Bloggity in which I have a one-on-one with specific members of PC in which we can get to know them more. All responses are in their own words, and questions were made on a general basis. If you would like to see a specific user in the next edition, comment below! [css-div="text-shadow: 2px 2px 5px #000000"]When did you become a member of PokeCommunity and how did you come across it?[/css-div]I initially came to PC completely on accident. I had recently gotten back into Pokemon (and Nintendo in general) by copping a copy of Pokemon Diamond off one of my cousins. I wanted the event legends, like Arceus, Darkrai, Shaymin, etc, and decided to finally join here after lurking as guest for quite some time. I picked up the legends I wanted and was here for a few months, the I actually disappeared for a few months straight, I didn't log in or anything from September '09 to January/February 2010, if I remember right. So basically, I owe my cousin for giving me diamond and google for getting me here, haha.
[css-div="text-shadow: 2px 2px 5px #000000"]What is the significance or origin behind your username? Past usernames?[/css-div]My original name was Live_Wire466 during the height of my noobery. Electivire was my favorite at the time, and I chose an electric-themed name + his national pokedex number, and viola, the greatest noob name of all time. When I got it changed to just Livewire during the test of our new name change system a year or so ago, I was so overjoyed you have no idea, hahaha.
[css-div="text-shadow: 2px 2px 5px #000000"]I think we've all had noob usernames at one point or another haha. So why the change to the username Lance? What's the story behind that?[/css-div]I went to Lance, mostly because it sounded cool and Lance is one of the most powerful trainers in the games, uses and specializes in a powerful and rare Pokemon type, and is the League Champion most of the time, haha. Hard not to like that.
[css-div="text-shadow: 2px 2px 5px #000000"]Which forum do you see yourself gravitating towards the most and why?[/css-div]I used to exclusively be a trade hermit under the tutelage of the one and only Lilith, and was one of several of hercronies pupils to become a mod somewhere else. D&D at the time was called Other Chat, and in the time after the previous mod's resignation and my promotion, the place slipped into being an out-of-control troll pit. I've always been drawn to politics, news, etc., and eventually made that place my home here on PC for a very long time. I've also always been attracted to Culture & Media and Chit-Chat Cafe as well. And whatever the most current Pokemon game forum is.
[css-div="text-shadow: 2px 2px 5px #000000"] #17. An out-of-control troll pit you say? How did you end up handling that? If that was your first time modding a section, how were your feelings as a new-mod coming into a section seeming to be getting out of hand?[/css-div]It was pretty bad at times, and it took a lot to get under control. Lots of time trying to control the flow of discussions, and lots of times handing out discipline and fighting with some of the problem members. It kind of needed to be beaten into submission. It was my first time modding, but I was basically meant for that place nd I knew what needed to b done and what didn't, and I always had a plan for what to do in D&D, or Other Chat as it was way back when.

[css-div="text-shadow: 2px 2px 5px #000000"]If you could make any improvement to the site, what would it be and why? If you can't think of anything, what would you like to stay consistent?[/css-div]There are a multitude of improvements of changes I would make to PC, with regards to rules, policies, and whatnot, but the biggest improvement to be made would be the implementation of the "PC 2.0" package you've heard bits and pieces of. That's really the only thing I can think of that I'd like to see happen in the near future. It's in the works, but remember that complete overhauls of the forum's design takes a lot of time, and a select few have the technical abilities to work on it. It will be here soon!
[css-div="text-shadow: 2px 2px 5px #000000"]What has your experience as a Moderator been like? What has your experience as a Super Moderator been like? How was the transition period between the two?[/css-div] It's had its ups and downs, for sure, but my three years as the D&D mod was pretty good for the most part. It was three years, so I saw a lot of changes around here, some good, some not so good - there were periods where th place was super active, the discussions were thoughtful and interesting, and there were a lot of great users. Then, there were periods when things were slow and lackluster, and we had some troublesome member issues. But that's just how things go. I've been an S-mod now for nearly 10 months, and so far it's gone very well. Sometimes things in HQ move a little slow for my tastes, but that's just my opinion.
[css-div="text-shadow: 2px 2px 5px #000000"]If you feel things are moving too slow in HQ, how do you think the pace can be quickened? Or on the flop side, is that even possible?[/css-div]The only real way is to either force people to vote, which essentially defeats the purpose of voting in the first place. Another option is to annoy everyone and remind them frequently that thread A needs voting on, or something like that. Like a person to "whip" votes, like Kevin Spacey's initial congressional position in House of Cards, if you've ever seen the show. Highly recommend, by the way.
[css-div="text-shadow: 2px 2px 5px #000000"]Who would you consider a role model for yourself, in real life and/or on PC?[/css-div]I'm not sure I have a true role model here, but there were certainly a lot of staff members older than I that I looked up to and respected. Lilith, Went and Morkula are still around, and we see a little of Mr. Cat Dog & Beachboy every now and then.
[css-div="text-shadow: 2px 2px 5px #000000"]What is your favorite pokemon and why?[/css-div]I've always had a ton of favorite Pokemon, like, several dozen of them at once. But right now, I think Braviary, Chandelure, Arcanine & Electivire are my all-time favorites, mostly because of their awesome designs and abilities, etc. Electric, Dark, Fire & Steel are my favorite types though.

[css-div="text-shadow: 2px 2px 5px #000000"]If you were granted a wish and could wish for anything - besides more wishes and more genies - what would you wish for and why?[/css-div] I would probably take the shallow route and wish for unlimited sources of money or something like that, or wish for political influence so I could become President, haha. Immortality, eternal youth free from aging or disease would be nice too, I guess.
[css-div="text-shadow: 2px 2px 5px #000000"]With unlimited money, what would you see yourself gravitating towards buying?[/css-div]I would buy a few sport cars, I think, but then I'd probably get a nice beach house somewhere, then fill it with cool toys like home theaters, fully stocked minibars, maybe a cool indoor pool, etc. Then get watches and toys, haha.
[css-div="text-shadow: 2px 2px 5px #000000"]What is your favorite video game or series and why?[/css-div] Aside from Pokemon, I would have to pick the golden Sun series, because I spent a good chunk of my childhood playing those two games too. If you haven't played them, or even heard off them, you're really missing out. They're some of, if not the best RPG's made for the Gameboy Advance system. Great story, great graphics, great game mechanics, etc. Yes, that good.
[css-div="text-shadow: 2px 2px 5px #000000"]Who is your favorite video game character and why?[/css-div] I really liked to wreck stuff in the super smash bros games with Marth, Link, etc. The swordsmen characters were always the most fun to use, in my opinion. Jiggypuff is also a close second, because it's humiliating to get whipped by somebody with Jigglypuff, haha.
[css-div="text-shadow: 2px 2px 5px #000000"]What are your feelings towards the new Super Smash Brtohers game that is coming out this fall?[/css-div]I'm intrigued, but I don't know if i'm intrigued enough to get back into gaming enough to get another 3DS or a Wii U to play it on. My Netflix tends to get most of my attention on my Xbox.

[css-div="text-shadow: 2px 2px 5px #000000"]What would you say is your dream vacation?[/css-div]I could never pick just one place, but I think a dream vacation for me would be a warm, sunny stay on a private island, somewhere in the Bahamas, Caribbean, or south pacific. Any place with a tropical oasis vibe to it. I'd also really love to see Rome, Paris, Greece in general, and Japan sometime before I die.
[css-div="text-shadow: 2px 2px 5px #000000"]Who is your favorite artist/song?[/css-div]Like a lot of things about me, I also have a lot of favorite songs/bands, but my top band is Chevelle, by far. They're from Chicago, and have more of a hard rock sound, but it's not metal or screamo or anything, they're similar to Tool, Breaking Benjamin, Seether, etc. Favorite Chevelle song would have to be this gem [video in entry].
[css-div="text-shadow: 2px 2px 5px #000000"]What would you say is your favorite TV or cartoon to watch as a kid? [/css-div]I've always been a fan of superheroes, and growing up Batman: The Animated Series was my absolute favorite thing to watch. It was the cartoon with that really distinctive noir/decco style, animation wise, and is pretty much considered one of the best animated cartoons ever made (it won a lot of emmy's). Pretty much the definitive representation of the Batman mythos. I've probably seen all the episodes, which is saying a lot because there are a TON of them, as it was really long-running.
[css-div="text-shadow: 2px 2px 5px #000000"]Would you say that you are a fan of the rebooted Batman movies that came out this last decade? What are your feelings to the new Superman vs. Batman movie that's coming out soon?[/css-div]The Nolan Batman films are my favorite movies. He's a master story teller and he was really able to capture the greater mythos and ideals behind the concept of Batman. These movies were movies about what Batman was about, if that makes sense. And he really brought the essence of the character to life - Nolan's movies are the definitive interpretation of Batman for me.
I'm cautiously optimistic. I would have rathered that they used the Nolan Batman, but that's because I'm pretty attached to that version of the caped crusader. I thought Man of Steel was great and was better than people gave it credit for. Henry Cavill is a perfect Superman. And I can't wait to finally see the assembled Justice League together in a movie for the first time. Needless to say, I can't wait.
[css-div="text-shadow: 2px 2px 5px #000000"]Outside of PokeCommunity, what are your favorite hobbies? What interests you?[/css-div]I've been an avid sports fan and player of sports since I was very little, and that's probably my biggest hobby. I'm a big football, soccer (THE REAL futbol, GOD) baseball, and lacrosse fan, and I've been a lacrosse player/coach for nearly a decade. I'm also really good at lacrosse and part of me still wishes I was playing, and I do kind of regret not playing for my University when I had the chance.

And don't say Manchester United because if you do, this interview is never going to be published haha.[/css-div]I'm much more of an American football/NFL fan than soccer/futbol. I'll watch Messi/Christiano Ronaldo and teams like Arsenal & Bayern Munich, but I really liked David Beckham growing up as a kid, when he was the face of futbol. And naturally I have to support our (The USA's) rag-tag World Cup teams every four years, haha.
