"Meet the PokeCommunity'ers" is a new series of the Daily Bloggity in which I have a one-on-one with specific members of PC in which we can get to know them more. All responses are in their own words, and questions were made on a general basis. If you would like to see a specific user in the next edition, comment below! This will be a weekly series appearing in the Daily Bloggity at 5 PM Eastern Time every Sunday.

Date: 06 April 2014
Time: 11:12 AM ET
Mood: Embracing my inner Ron Burgandy

When did you become a member of PokeCommunity and how did you come across it?

I originally joined PokéCommunity in March 2010, six days after the North American release of HeartGold and SoulSilver. I came across PC through a simple Google search of "pokemon forum," because I wanted to make home of a place to discuss Pokémon, and in the beginning I made around 30 or so posts in the HeartGold/SoulSilver section. I left shortly thereafter and returned on and off as a lurker through early 2013, before I came back and started actively posting.

What is the significance behind your username? How did it originate?

I feel the significance of my username comes from my love of technology and nothing more. It's a username I'll probably stick with for as long as I can! As for how I came up with it? Prior to the November 2013 return of name changes to PC, I was in the mood to create an alt. When I was in the process of creating the alt, I had the help of Dakota and Doctor in terms of narrowing down to a name that fit me. I suggested Terabyte and they both agreed that it fit me. Lo and behold, it was available! I registered with the name as soon as possible and the rest is history.

What is the position that you hold and how did you come across in obtaining it?

I'm currently the moderator of the Technology & Internet section. I became a moderator in early August of 2013, after the Technology & Internet section had been without a moderator for nearly three months, and it's really difficult to describe how I became one officially. All I can remember was the day it happened, I got off a Skype call with an IRL friend, and saw a PM in my inbox. At the time, I was very active in The Welcome Lounge, so I thought it may have been someone who I welcomed that PM'd me, but it wasn't. I got a request from the h-staff to become a moderator, and it literally took me a full minute to decide on the positon after I finished reading the PM.

Can you describe what kind of emotions or thoughts that were going through your head when you received that PM asking if you wanted to become a moderator?

One of the main thoughts that was going through my head was "am I going to be able to handle the workload as a moderator?" I honestly thought that being a moderator was more difficult than it really is, and it's a decision I do not regret making at all so far. Aside from the long-term thoughts, I was super excited and my heart started beating faster, and I got a little less sleep than normal that night because of all the excitement.

What has been the hardest job about being a moderator?

This is really a difficult question for me to answer, because I really enjoy my position as a moderator! I've met a lot of people on PC since being a moderator, and I enjoy working with everyone else on staff as well, since they help me out with making decisions from time to time, and vice-versa as well. But to answer your question, it's a dislike for me whenever I have to lock topics and issue infractions to users.

If you could change one aspect or thing about PokeCommunity, what would you change and why? Or if you can't think about something to change, what about something that is working well and you'd like it to stay consistent?

Hmm, one thing I'd change? Probably nothing, yet. Although I have offered opinions on many of the changes brought about to PC recently, I'm not sure otherwise. As for something that works well, I'd honestly say the thread revival rule, to be honest. Does it really hurt if there are a million copies over several years of the same threads? Probably not. Especially in this day of the double posting glitches, letting threads die and having a new version of them pop up is probably easier to use as well.

Spoiler:
Besides the thread in which you moderate, which forum do you see yourself gravitating towards the most and why?

You'll always see me in the Chit Chat Café, probably. It's been my second home forever, to the point where I have more posts in there than in my own section, haha! XD I enjoy hanging out though with other members and seeing their thoughts, and the DCC is my home inside a home as well. :p

Is there a forum here on PokeCommunity that you've always wanted to venture into but felt too intimidated to participate in?

Probably Challenges. I can think that for the longest of time, I've been wanting to restart a game and partake in one of the challenges, but I've always had a fear of restarting a game because I've considered Pokémon games' save data to be precious to me.

What is your favorite pokemon and why?

I'll let you guys guess that one. ;) Nah j/k, it's Snivy! I have really always liked the Snivy line as a whole, and it all started before Black and White were even released in North America! On twitter in January 2011, a former friend of mine (who I've lost contact with) had a Tepig avatar, and along with him, Minerva had decided to use an Oshawott avatar. I followed along lastly to use a Snivy avatar, and that's literally how it started. I tried finding as many places as possible to use the Snivy name, and it's just literally stuck around! I also own a Snivy plush to remind me that it's my favorite and the constant Snivy theme you always see me with contributes towards my liking of Snivy.

What is your favorite video game or series and why?

I wasn't much of a gamer to begin, and it's still that way to this day, but if I had to say, it would be Pokémon, no joke. It's the only video game franchise I've played consistently since it was first released, and I have always tried my best to get at least one game from a generation on release day every time as well. Honorary mention to the Animal Crossing series, though, for being a series of games one can play, relax and have fun with when not playing Pokémon.

Do you have a favorite game or region of Pokemon that you like to play in? What are your feelings on the newest edition in the series that is Pokemon X and Y?

Yes, Hoenn by far! Trumpets do not bother me at all, but in Emerald, I was completely amazed at how filled the post-game was, and how much you could do after defeating the Elite Four, aside from catching 'em all.

For X and Y? I have Y version, and let me tell ya: it's the best thing for a Pokémon game since the debut of the series. I really like the step up in graphics and detail. The soundtrack is also pretty epic as well, considering that it was composed with actual instruments and not MIDI files.

Who is your favorite video game character and why?

I don't have one, really D:

Spoiler:
It's alright, sometimes it's difficult to pick a favorite video game character! How about this, who would you say was your favorite Gym Leader/Elite 4 member to battle against in the Pokemon series?

Again, another tough one. However, I've always gone with Flannery. :p It's just her appearance that really appeals to me, and Fire is, ironically, one of my favorite types of Pokémon. I also remember having to go through her gym in Ruby, Sapphire, and Emerald and always getting lost, and she also put up quite the challenge.

Who is your favorite artist/song?

Same as above, I don't really have a favorite, except down to the genre, which would be classic rock. If I had to say though, I enjoy artists/groups such as The Beatles, Pink Floyd, The Who, and Journey.

Between those four artists that you listed, who would you choose to be able to see live in their glory days if you had the chance?

Definitely The Beatles. I mean, who would not have wanted to go see the "Fab Four" when they came out? They were the #1 group for weeks and that was all that got talked about in music when they became popular over here.

Do you have a favorite song by The Beatles? I know that has to be hard, considering they have a lot of great songs.

Oh, definitely. "Here Comes the Sun." It's such a soothing song in my opinion, and it's actually one of the songs not sung by Paul McCartney haha! The lyrics are also really happy in my opinion as well, and it's a song I have caught myself listening to on repeat several times in the past as well.

Do you watch anime? If so, do you have a favorite anime?

I don't watch anime currently, but for the longest of time, I have been wanting to watch anime! It's a constant struggle for me between sub or dub, and that's one of the halting points for me.

May I ask why you find it difficult to choose between subbed anime and dubbed anime?

Really, the only thing that is halting me is the validity of the English and grammar used. I find it inconsistent that dubs change names most of the time in animes, and dubs also cut and edit scenes as well. However, with subs, it can get confusing for me to follow along with the scenery while trying to read the translated text.

Outside of PokeCommunity, what are your favorite hobbies? What interests you?

I enjoy chatting with others at my college that have common interests to me, from music to video games. If I discover someone like that, you could see me nerding out with them on the subject. XD Other hobbies away from PC I have though are that I enjoy driving, and chatting (with a touch of shyness), and I also enjoy working with technology whenever I can, such as working on computers.

Want to give a shoutout to a fellow PCer for their hard work on the site?

Sure! My top shoutout goes to skyluigi2, who really needs to be more active here on PC, and for being my first pair. I'd like to also give a shoutout to Slayr231 because we have a lot of common interests, and for being my second pair. Next I have my PC sister Minerva, who I've known for a long time (before we were even both PC members!), and I am really glad that we continue to stay in touch to this day. Also shoutouts to Peitharchia, Cordelia, [supporter]Hikamaru[/supporter] and [supporter]Twiggy[/supporter], plus the entire staff team all for doing a great job around here!

Who would you like to see showcased next?

‡ As always, the "Daily Bloggity" is self written by myself and includes just some of my opinions on different mediums. If you have a subject that you might want me to touch on, feel free to PM me or comment below! I would love to hear some of your ideas! Tune in tomorrow at 5PM Eastern Time for the next edition of the "Daily Bloggity!" Cheers! ‡

As I said via VM, these are great. It's cool how your questions kinda lead into a conversation and it's a genuinely interesting read which makes stuff that I'd not normally care about into stuff that I'm sat here reading and wanting more of. Brilliant job. Make sure you vary your questions a bit and ask some member-specific ones to keep it this interesting.

I'd totally volunteer for doing this, by the way. It'd be nice for the community to get to know me a little bit better and I really want this to become a thing.

I just feel bad because so many people want to do it - which I'm loving the energy out of everyone! - that I don't want others to think that I'm ignoring them by picking someone for the next entry instead of them haha xD
