About Me
One move, one opinion, one "mistake" in eyes of a majority can destroy a reputation

There are numerous times where one person takes a stand, against, pretty much, an unbelievable majority ... and ultimately gets kicked to the curb for it. Countless people write the person off as "bad person with horrible opinions" and their respected reputation crumbles like a cookie. Only for their future points to possibly affected by that previous grudge. When actually, if you really looked into the overall person, they're good people. It's sad, how one (that's all it takes, just one) disagreement can put someone's entire respect and reputation into flames.
Every day people preach to never give up, fight for what you believe in, and so on. And when someone does, for it to go horribly wrong, the backlash and overall negativity caused from such destroy the person's overall image... yet all along they just took a stand for what they believed in.
Ironic, too, this case could be stamped onto numerous people here at PC. It's to the point where arguments and debates never succeed or lead to compromise, where neither opinion moves. Everything blown out of proportion these days. People get trashed for this. Attacked and taking things far too personal about disagreements when they merely disagree with the topic, not literally the other person.
Other times, "the little guy," the David, takes his stand and it turns out to be something wonderful, praised, and nothing but positives like "hey, you fought for it!" ...yet you rarely, if ever, hear that about the guy that took on Goliath and lost.
If you're still standing, even if you've been practically ripped apart limb from limb, good for you. Regardless of how your points may be in a discussion, debate, argument, whatever... it speaks volumes of a person to fight for what they believe in.
And to the people that drag the person down further when a stand is over, the argument is done. Forum-wise... most likely locked, perhaps banned and simply a thing of the past. When they just continue to bash the person. Move on, please, don't look at a person so narrowly based on one opinion. Take a fresh look at everything each and every time.
That's really all I have to say. And no, I'm not defending the points, I'm defending the character, reputation, and overall person. Have a nice day.

...I don't believe this. I can not believe that somebody actually posted about this topic before he could. ...Egh, now I'm worried about the rest getting snatched up...

Ichaste, I think you're taking this entry too... hmm, well, too much like it's directed at one person's case. Point blank, it isn't. Recently I've had a lot of things in my life that fall into this entry. And with discussing some events on PC about multiple people, it added fuel to this, yes, but it's not what you're thinking. So, before you judge where it's coming from, notice I repeatedly mentioned it in groups. (Never he, she, etc) This isn't a one person thing, it's backup to countless people. And besides, if it was, nothing helps more than backing up a person kicked down. But um, thanks for commenting. o_o
And thank you Audy. :D!
[edit] And oh, now that I've learned of it, this entry was published before today's... er, event happened.Posted November 2nd, 2008 at 7:43 PM by BeachBoy

No, no, BeachBoy, I wasn't saying what you apparently think I was. I wasn't judging or questioning anything.
I have to thank you, though. You just gave an excellent point.Posted November 3rd, 2008 at 7:21 AM by Forci Stikane

I have no idea who you're talking about...but that's nice, deep yeah. Your opinions can ruin your reputation just because others disagree when it is not deserved. Although, as always, there will be exceptions where it is a good thing...I suppose I'm looking at the very negative side where you're standing up for something bad, where you hate something or you're just ignorant of the subject...espeically over multiple threads, again and again and again...

@ Jack: Yeah, bound to happen on a forum really.
@ Ichaste: Oh, okay. XD I wasn't sure where you were coming from. Thanks. :D
@ Jorah: That's true, the respect and reputation for someone fighting in what they can believe in has a line. Like, you can't still respect an insane people that fights for um, like, the killing of people or something weird like that. And on forum terms, when it never ends or they're just trolls, yeah. Good point there yourself. (b' ')bPosted November 3rd, 2008 at 3:44 PM by BeachBoy
