Pepperton

"Meet the PokeCommunity'ers" is a series of the Daily Bloggity in which I have a one-on-one with specific members of PC in which we can get to know them more. All responses are in their own words, and questions were made on a general basis. If you would like to see a specific user in the next edition, comment below! This will be a weekly series appearing in the Daily Bloggity at 5 PM Eastern Time every Sunday.

Date: 16 October 2014
Time: 8:02 AM ET
Mood: Embracing my inner Ron Burgandy

[css-div="text-shadow: 2px 2px 5px #000000"]When did you become a member of PokeCommunity and how did you come across it?[/css-div]I came across it searching "pokemon forums" on Google. I first joined PC way back in October 2013 because I had very few friends interested in X and Y and I constantly felt the urge to talk to people about the games. Now, I did intend to post a lot when I first registered, but I was busy with school and just lost motivation. Y was an amazing game though, loved it.

[css-div="text-shadow: 2px 2px 5px #000000"]What made you decide to come back to PC then?[/css-div]Haha, I originally came to get support for my fangame, but that lost weight quickly and is currently on an indefinite hiatus! Then, when news of ORAS came about, I recalled how excited I was to discuss X and Y on a forum, and never actually did because I joined too late, and so I came back, made sure I remembered my password and all, and jumped aboard the speculating train, while along the way enjoying the rest of the site.

[css-div="text-shadow: 2px 2px 5px #000000"]What is the significance or origin behind your username? Past usernames?[/css-div]Haha, nothing really significant. I had already spent thirty minutes trying to come up with a good, clever and unique username, but nothing was coming to me. This was around the time I was obsessed with getting a dog and naming it Pepper, which was for some reason a word that I loved at the time, and I felt it was too simple just like that, so I added ton spontaneously to make it sound more like a name.

[css-div="text-shadow: 2px 2px 5px #000000"]More important question though: did you end up getting that dog?[/css-div]NO. It was honestly heartbreaking and I still miss him deeply. Now, I didn't hold a grudge over my parents, because it was a huge step for my mom letting a dog into our house for three days anyway, and owning it would make her extremely uncomfortable, which would make the dog unhappy, so it was all for the best. It was a great experience though, and basically confirmed for myself that I'm going to get a dog for myself when I move out, haha.

[css-div="text-shadow: 2px 2px 5px #000000"]Which forum do you see yourself gravitating towards the most and why?[/css-div]Well, obviously Omega Ruby & Alpha Sapphire - Hoenn is my favorite region, the first Pokemon game that I finished all the way through was Sapphire, and I am so pumped about the game. Anyone who isn't saddens me. But other than that, Culture & Media and General Chat are my favorite sections. I feel extremely at home in these sections. I'm a talkative guy, at least around my friends, and I generally talk about the media, sports, celebrities, movies, books, all of which can be discussed in C&M. I get obsessed with shows very easily, ever since I got Netflix. General Chat, you just get to chat about whatever you feel like!

[css-div="text-shadow: 2px 2px 5px #000000"]Binge watching anything good right now on Netflix? What would you say is a show on Netflix that you would recommend to others to watch?[/css-div]Unfortunately I haven't had time - a month or so ago I finished up all five seasons of The League, but ever since I haven't watched much of anything. I did begin watching the first season of HIMYM out of nostalgia, but that's pretty much it. If you haven't tried Parks and Recreation, it's my all-time favorite show and a ton of fun to watch. Initially, it's a bit stale, but if you let it grow on you, you'll love it.

[css-div="text-shadow: 2px 2px 5px #000000"]If you could make any improvement to the site, what would it be and why? If you can't think of anything, what would you like to stay consistent?[/css-div]The site is pretty well run, but I think I would be a little more lenient about the thread revival rule, and I'd also try and make post culture a little more laid back, if that makes sense. We're all here to have fun and enjoy the community. Rules are important, but there are some things that could be altered a bit. Nothing too serious though.

[css-div="text-shadow: 2px 2px 5px #000000"]What was your reaction like when you found out you were modded?[/css-div]Well, it had definitely crossed my mind beforehand on what it would be like to moderate a section here, but I didn't really think it would happen to me. Anyway, I was promoted while in a chat without any PM or any notification prior, so it was kind of crazy seeing the box to the right of my welcome message that read "6 reports!" That's when I kind of freaked out. I was sick at the time and hadn't moved all day, but that caused me to jump out of bed and tell my mom (odd reaction, I know). She was confused, but happy for me, probably because I looked ecstatic.

[css-div="text-shadow: 2px 2px 5px #000000"]If it makes you feel any better, I told my mum when I got modded haha. What does your mum think about you hanging out on a Pokemon website?[/css-div]She could care less, my parents put a lot of trust in me that I know what I'm doing, whether it's with school, the internet, tennis, or whatever, and unless I abruptly fail to meet those standards, then they'll continue to hold me on a loose leash, so to speak. I think she was happy for me in a confused way, but told me to go back to bed (I was sick at the time).

[css-div="text-shadow: 2px 2px 5px #000000"]If you could moderate any section beside the section your currently moderate on PokeCommunity, which section which you choose and why? What would be the section you would least like to moderate?[/css-div]Culture & Media, because like I said before, it's a place I just feel at home in. I love talking about the media and sports, and it would be an honor to succeed such a great moderator in Dave. I don't know if I'd ever do as well as him, but I'd certainly try my best.

[css-div="text-shadow: 2px 2px 5px #000000"]Who would you consider a role model for yourself, in real life and/or on PC?[/css-div]I haven't really ever thought too hard about this question. I would say that my father is my role model, because he came from Turkey to the United States and didn't know any English. He inspires me to work hard every day in school and in tennis, no matter what the circumstance.

[css-div="text-shadow: 2px 2px 5px #000000"]What is your favorite pokemon and why?[/css-div]Mienshao, because it's so sleek and elegant. I love the way it looks, and it's actually quite powerful. Had a stint in OU, right now not that high, but

Daily Comic - "New Year's Resolution" by Dorkly
Spoiler:
[css-div="text-shadow: 2px 2px 5px #000000"]If you were granted a wish and could wish for anything - besides more wishes and more genies - what would you wish for and why?[/css-div]I would honestly wish for all diseases in the world to become curable. That, or an infinite supply of money.

[css-div="text-shadow: 2px 2px 5px #000000"]What is your favorite video game or series and why?[/css-div]Favorite series right now is Rayman. The old games are fun to play and give me a tinge of nostalgia every time, and the new games have vibrant graphics and the levels are the perfect difficulty level.

[css-div="text-shadow: 2px 2px 5px #000000"] What do you think of the newest Rayman game, Rayman Legends (if you've played it of course)?[/css-div]Ah, stunning! The graphics are adorable, and so pleasing to the eyes. I mean, really great job by Ubisoft, regenerating a wonderful franchise with first Origins and then Legends. I played both to full length, and they kept me entertained long after the first week of purchase. I would certainly recommend everyone to try them out, especially if you're a fan of platform games, they're a blast and the graphics will leave you wanting more games in that style!

[css-div="text-shadow: 2px 2px 5px #000000"]Who is your favorite video game character and why?[/css-div]Ugh. This is extremely tough, but I really like Tails as a character in Sonic - he's extremely loyal to Sonic and always stays by his side, trying to make things better for his friends. Plus, his design is adorable and I love playing as him in games.

[css-div="text-shadow: 2px 2px 5px #000000"]What would you say is your dream vacation?[/css-div]A three week long tour across Europe, with a special companion if you know what I'm saying :]

[css-div="text-shadow: 2px 2px 5px #000000"]Describe to all of us what your dream girl is like. What are the most important aspects you look for in a successful relationship?[/css-div]Well, I suppose there are two aspects, personality and physical attributes. I myself am a very emotional, sappy, and teddy-bear like (for lack of a better word) type with girls I'm interested in, meaning I'm overly nice, overly careful of what I say, and just generally courteous. A lot of girls aren't into that, and so I've tried to change my ways, but it's who I am and I simply decided to not let others affect how I present myself. My dream girl is someone who is forgiving, someone who loves to be outside and enjoy music and sports with me, someone who loves openly, someone who is a BIG FAN OF HUGS :], someone who also will settle for cuddling and watching Netflix for hours, someone who has a cute laugh and a positive personality, to even out my rather pessimistic nature.

I'm pretty indifferent on all physical attributes, but there are some things I like more than others. For example, I like girls that are more curvy than skinny - supermodels have never attracted me. Bright eyes like blue or green, blonde or brown hair, and being shorter than me are all big ups too, but again, not necessities.

[css-div="text-shadow: 2px 2px 5px #000000"]But seriously, biggest question: how do you feel about usurping me as PC's "biggest hearthrob"?[/css-div]Bah, you flatter me, but I think you still have that title. We'll just call me your apprentice or something! n__n

[css-div="text-shadow: 2px 2px 5px #000000"]Who is your favorite artist/song?[/css-div]Sam Smith, Latch.

[css-div="text-shadow: 2px 2px 5px #000000"]What would you say is your favorite TV or cartoon to watch as a kid? [/css-div]Oh my god, why you gotta hit me with the hard questions? I would say Hey Arnold! was one of the main shows I watched back then. I watched pretty much whatever was on Cartoon Network and Nickelodeon.

[css-div="text-shadow: 2px 2px 5px #000000"]Outside of PokeCommunity, what are your favorite hobbies? What interests you?[/css-div]As many of you probably know, I play tennis competitively and often. I aspire to be a college tennis player, and practice usually 18-20 hours a week. Other than that, I love to write, draw, I used to act a little bit when I was younger, and I've also always been interested in game development.

[css-div="text-shadow: 2px 2px 5px #000000"]Would you consider yourself more of a Federer or Nadal fan?[/css-div]I am a very passionate Nadal fan and have been since I started tennis, but honestly I feel like his career is coming to a close. Ever since his RG win, he's been on a steady decline riddled with injury. 2013 was an amazing campaign for him and I'm proud of him for coming back like that, but I think after one or two more average to below average years of play, he's going to hang up the rackets. I'll forever be a fan of his style and demeanor though, and he'll always be one of the reasons I stuck with tennis; a huge impact on me. Have always had major respect for Fed as well; consider him the GOAT, along with Pete Sampras. He might end up going longer than Rafa thanks to his resiliency and ability to abstain from injury.

Right now, my favorite player is Kei Nishikori and has been since 2012 (No, I am not a bandwagon fan, I supported him pre-USO and PREDICTED HIM TO WIN the title after his third round win. So close.)

[css-div="text-shadow: 2px 2px 5px #000000"]Want to give a shoutout to a fellow PC'er?[/css-div]Shoutout to Skymin and revlis and Ozymandias for being such great pals, as well as many others around the community that I've interacted with. If I haven't, please give me a shout because I love making new friends!
