Retail, you never cease to amuse me

Posted April 12th, 2014 at 6:48 PM by Team Fail

I had a really interesting day at work and I just needed a place to share it because it was all kinds of weird.

So I had this mother and her two kids come to my till (I was on cash) and the little boy was just nucking futs. He was crying because he was
1. hungry
2. thirsty
3. wanting a treat
4. wanting a toy
5. hating his mother for saying no
He was all upset and stuff and he even said "DON'T TALK BACK TO ME!!!!" (How ironic, no?) TO HIS MOTHER. He even tried dragging the cart in front of his mother to stop her from what she was doing and listen to him. He got attention alright, not what he wanted. He even tried stepping on her feet, and she turns to him and says "See what'll happen if you step on my feet again." in the most evil tone ever. I just tried to smile the whole time at the till, you have no idea how hard it was to stay composed. I even wanted to try talking some sense into the kid, but I knew it wasn't my place. After they all left, another customer came to my till and they were looking at them as they were leaving and she said to me "Wow that kid is out of control!" to which I said "If I did that to my mother, I would have got a spud across the face."

Then I had some comical relief. I had to change my receipt paper, so I did, put the lid back on, and pressed the button to spool out all the gross paper and stuff. AND THE FEED BUTTON GOT JAMMED IN THE CASE. THE PAPER WOULD NOT STOP COMING OUT. Eventually I just unplugged the printer to get it to finally stop. Of course by then I had almost an eighth of the roll all over my till. Then after I unplugged it the button finally unjammed. LOGIC.

Third of all, apparently Target was having network issues all over North America. Our handheld pricing guns would not work. They wanted me to put stuff away without one of these guns. Fortunately I knew the layout of the store really well, so it wasn't too bad, but yeah.

Working in retail is always amusing. Every single day is different.

My mom would've slapped me. Hard. And taken me home and then continued with it. Then again, I'd never dare say that stuff to her. XD

    Kids lack discipline these days...

That's all there is to it.

If I did that to my mom, I don't think I could even be able to type or walk properly :/
