This week, the match between Ash and Gary continues, with Ash rallying to a miraculous comeback!
The big change I made here in this episode was adding Mega Evolution to this already epic match. In a way, seeing Ash induce Blaze inspires Gary to become a researcher, as he is curious about the Heart Song and Mega Evolution (as I showed in the ending.)
I did move the start of Ash's next match against Harrison to next time, to give the audience a chance to breathe after the intense match, and show the start of Ash and Gary's fencemending.
Prof. Oak and Delia's chat during Ash's time out also makes clear Ash and Gary had more diverse interests than just Pokemon training (Ash is more musically oriented, while Gary is more of a sports fan. They also both had certain movies and TV shows they liked to watch, and video games they liked playing) I thought about foreshadowing Serena here, but decided to save that for another time.
