This week, the gang visits Johto's (and later Shinou's) Battle Frontier, where Ash and Misty help Brock complete his Lore Stage rainbow!
This episode underwent a dramatic transformation, and worked very well even after I removed Team Rocket--originally, it was going to be a true amusement park, instead of a massive Team Rocket trap. But then, I remembered that in HG/SS, Johto gets a Battle Frontier. When I saw that none of the other Shinou Frontier Brains ever made an appearance in the show, I decided to make it the Battle Frontier. This way, it would accomplish several goals:
--The other Shinou Frontier Brains would get a proper appearance in my imagined anime.
--This episode would foreshadow the Houen Battle Frontier (in Pokemon Sapphire Sky)
--When Ash meets the Shinou Frontier Brains again in Shine Diamond, he already has a relationship with each of them, making his battle with Palmer in that arc more meaningful.
--It would make Brock's final stripe more meaningful if he won it with some VIPs looking on.
As much as I wanted to fit Brock's entire story in the episode, it very nearly made the episode run to almost 10,000 words! So I unfortunately had to cut parts of it out to have the episode fit in one post.
Next time, we put back an episode that was originally cut in the real show--the gang ventures into the Ice Cave to battle Team Rocket (and Brock catches another cold)
