This blog mostly contains my latest escapades in the Pokémon fandom. Be it related to the games, the anime, my collection, or PC itself, this blog should have it. /dives onto name change bandwagon

Lightning → Cherrim

Part of me wonders if people who keep up with me off of PC will even really register my name change...? So many people associate ME with the name Cherrim before even the Pokémon that it wouldn't surprise me if everyone forgot it wasn't my name here too.

But anyway, yeah, name change! I've had the name Lightning on PC for over 11 years now so this is kind of a sudden change but, honestly, I've wanted to switch to Cherrim for years now. I couldn't back when name changes were still a thing the first time because we didn't nix inactive accounts or anything but now that there's an inactivity clause, it wasn't an issue. :) I DIDN'T EVEN HAVE TO HUNT DOWN AND MURDER THE PERSON WHO USED TO OWN THIS USERNAME. I'm so so so happy! It's finally mine!!

A lot of people said they never wanted me to change my username but Lightning hasn't been "me" for years and years now. I felt it suited me back when I used it everywhere but I came up with it in 2001. Since 2007, Cherrim has become my identity everywhere and even 2007 was a looong time ago. Additionally, I was pretty disappointed with the character Lightning from FF13 and as a Square-Enix fan, most people started to assume I got my username from her when in reality I had it looong before FF13 was even announced. So it's nice to finally shed that name and those assumptions.

I haven't really been active on PC much at all this year. Not since quitting. Maybe a fresh name will help me get some of the spark back, though? I just made my 30000th post today and that felt pretty cool. Perhaps I should see if my old goal of making it to #1 in postcount is still viable? 8)
