This week, Ash and Paul are stranded in another Forest of Illusion after a battle goes horribly wrong!
This was one of those episodes that was a perfectly decent plot with Team Rocket removed, as just getting out of the forest would be enough of a conflict. I couldn't resist a few callbacks to Moonlight Silver, specifically its Forest of Illusion and the Stantler episode (this is why the remixed Ash doesn't use his Pokedex when he sees the Stantler--he has seen them before.)
Another big change was the starter swap, and how that affects Ash's relationship with Paul--now that Ash has a Chimchar of his own already (since Turtwig goes to Barry in the remix), Paul sees Ash as a challenge on the way to having the best and most powerful Pokemon--and any Chimchar (or other Pokemon) is seen as weak as opposed to his Chimchar Goku. Ash, on the other hand, knows that love and trust are the key to real strength, and he will attempt to teach Paul this as the remix progresses (which may also involve demonstrating Mega Evolution in front of him.)
Next time, Ash and Paul escape the forest, and finish their battle!
