Alright, so this was a very very hard decision. Everyone I asked said that I should like gen 7 more. RNG said I should pick gen 4. I really like gen 7, but nostalgia was for gen 4. It was tough. But finally, I decided to pick gen 7 for the following reasons:
1. The characters: Gen 4 had some decent characters. Cynthia, Lyra, Barry, and of course, Looker. But gen 7 also had Cynthia and Looker, and even more amazing characters. Lillie, Gladion, and Lusamine are pretty much my favorite characters from pokemon now. Guzma is HILARIOUS, and Hau had some great character development. All the trial captains and kahunas had unique and fun personalities, except for the golfing one which hardly makes an appearence (But still, golfing is pretty unique in the pokemon world). Even Plumeria, wicke, and faba, which I hated at first, grew to be some great characters by the end.
2. Storyline: Platinum's storyline was pretty good, but Sun and Moon's storyline was WAAAY up there. Some of the hidden lore, influential ideas and quotes, and plot twists made Sun and Moon one of the best (If not the best) Stories in Pokemon.
3. Geography: Johto is a bit too close to Kanto for my liking, and is a very basic region. Sinnoh is a bit better, but Mount Coronet's massive size, and the weird way you navigated the region, made Sinnoh a bit of a pain. Alola however is pretty great. The landscapes are pretty varied, and each island felt like a whole new region to me.
4. Pokemon: Generation 3 still has the best pokemon in my opinion, but gen 7 is a close second. Cutiefly, Ribombee, Stufful, Bewear, Mimikyu, Pheromosa, Solgaleo, Lunala, and Nebby were all great pokemon.
5. Features: While many people don't like SOS battles, and find them too common, I really liek them. I honestly hardly see them, and they are a nice touch to the games. I'm glad megas returned, and while I do wish there were some new ones, it wasn't a MAJOR disappointment. My only major issue tbh was the gen 1 pandering.
