It was hot. So very hot. So hot, you could fry an egg on the hood of a car. I sat at my desk, and stared out the window while the teacher mumbled on about nothing I cared about. *SLAM!* "What's the capital of Taiwan, Jeremy?" said Mrs. Borcek. I just sat there in silence. It was too hot to answer. "That's what I thought. Now, I want to see you after class today." Shortly after she said that, the lunch bell rang. I weaved my may from the back of the room to her desk in the front. She waited until the class migrated to the watering hole before speaking to me. "Jeremy, I've noticed lately that your grades are dropping. Could you tell me why?" Well, I could have told her that I was recently diagnosed with ADD, but then I would have been with half the class already. Instead, I played Helen Keller. "It's because you aren't being challenged anymore. It may not be so obvious to you, but you are moving at a faster pace than the rest of the class. I know, it may seem weird to you, but I'm going to recommend you be put into the advanced class." I gave her a disgruntled look and replied. "But why? Everyone in that class is a fracken' snob." She usually doesn't like anyone using any word that replaces a swear word, but she brushed it off this time. "I know, the kids in there may seem like jerks, but you may like them once you get to know them. Just give it a shot, that's all I'm asking. But if you don't like it, you'll have to sit in front of my desk for the rest of the year. And that's not a threat. It's a promise. Now go on to lunch."

Well, this is part one of a short story I'm writing.
