The Road to Redemption, Part Deux: In Which Shining Raichu Gives You Blue Balls

Posted September 28th, 2015 at 8:13 AM by Shining Raichu (Thoughts of an Embittered Nobody)

Greetings, fellow travellers.

I’m going to start Part Two of my Road to Redemption series with a bit of a lament. You see, there’s no feeling worse – no frustration more pronounced - than writing something you’re really proud of, only to find out that it can never see the light of day.

I had this blog entry written exactly a week to the day after my last one. I wrote the draft, went over it and over it with a fine toothed comb, changing wordings and

The Road to Redemption (Part Une)

Posted September 5th, 2015 at 7:35 AM by Shining Raichu (Thoughts of an Embittered Nobody)

As most of you will know, six months ago I was fired as moderator of General Chat, which we now call The Treehouse because that’s a much more suitable name for a place where we discuss cannibalism, the meds we’re taking and the details of losing our virginity. You know, just like the kids do. If you weren’t aware of my liberation from duty, I’m honestly not sure how, because I spent a lot of time in the weeks that followed making sure everybody who would listen was as acutely aware of it

Community Service: The Epilogue

Posted May 15th, 2012 at 7:47 AM by Shining Raichu (Thoughts of an Embittered Nobody)

I went to painstaking effort last week recounting my act of heroism in the shopping mall, where - at great risk to my own personal safety - I fixed a potentially traumatic spelling mistake on an out-of-order ATM machine. I knew you'd all be dying to know what happened next: was the perpetrator brought to justice? Did I ever receive my badge of honour? Was there a statue erected in my name?

So I went back to the mall yesterday in hope of finding the answers to all three of those questions...

Community Service

I am of the belief that it is imperative to give back to your local community because in the end, when the chips are down, it's the people closest to you who will rally around and support you in your time of need - and when that happens, you're going to want them to want to be there. I am also, however, the first to admit that I've been a little lax in my efforts to benefit my local kin of late (and by 'of late', I mean for the past twenty-one years). Not once have I helped a doddery old lady cross
