A Year of Funny Pictures: September 22nd
This Fall - and this Winter I suppose - I will be engaging in an activity that is very much foreign to me. I will be making myself an Uber driver. What is Uber you say? Uber is a driving service where normal people like myself - don't listen to gimmepie, I am quite a normal person - act as essentially taxi drivers and drive other people to their destination. However, the perks are 1.) You get to use your own vehicle and 2.) You choose when you want to offer the service (so you could be working 1 hour or 20 hours; it's really just when you feel like doing it.)
Why am I doing this? Well, the obvious answer is money. The more complex answer is that I plan on moving out after I graduate and my girlfriend and I will be getting our own place. Currently, I work 8 hours a week at a child care location and occasionally substitute teach, however because I am simultaneously taking college classes I don't have the time to allocate a full time job onto my plate. Evenings are generally when I am readily available to work, and thus is why I've come to this conclusion.
Now comes the "selling" out portion of this entry - yeah, yeah, I know. But this really isn't that bad, more like a "you scratch my back I scratch your back" kind of deal. If you are a person who does not have an Uber account, you should create one. It's not invasive, and isn't going to steal your information or anything like that. The point I'm bringing up is that if you make an account and use my promo code, you'll be getting your first Uber ride free of charge! As a result, I'll be getting a free ride as well, and you get to save $20!
In the end, do whatever you are most comfortable with - I'm very excited about testing this out and earning some extra cash on the side. What are your guys' opinions on services like Uber? Have you had good experiences or bad? Is there anything you think I should know about when it comes to being a driver?
