Recently, I was bored, so, I decided to make some shinies.
Only using the most advanced pixel editor, Paint, I edited three shiny Pokemon, Gengar, Seel and Nidoqueen! In reality, all three of them have terrible shinies, or at least issues with them. Seel is infamous for barely changing, and I need to squint a little to see the difference, Gengar barely changes (I was even traded a shiny Gengar, and I didn't realise it was shiny until I looked at its summary), and Nidoqueen's shiny sprite just doesn't look nice, the pink is nice, but the green isn't appealing, especially since this is a 'Queen' Pokemon. So, I made some new sprites, and I think they look fantastic. Both Nidoqueen and Gengar have backstory behind their shinies. Nidoqueen, quite obviously is supposed to take Nidoking's normal palette, like Nidoking did with Nidoqueen's normal palette. Instead of using the whole Nidoking palette like with other sprites, I kept the pink, as the purple already looks good. :D Gengar's shiny is partially based on the Bayonetta 2 logo, having similar blues (the blues were a coincidence) and the Yellow eyes from the '2' in the Bayonetta 2 logo. :D
Seel has no inspiration, I guess because it's a water type? I still think it looks good.
(Update!: I re-coloured shiny Cyndaquil too, I'm eventually going to re-colour the whole line too, the inspiration for the shiny is the palette of the Gen 2 shiny Cyndaquil line! :) )
Keep in mind, the bars on each of the sprites are the palettes of the shinies. :D
(Another Edit: I made shinies for Regice and Registeel for a friend of mine. :) They're based off of the colour schemes of the titles Pokemon Ruby, Sapphire, and Emerald, but in my opinion, I think Registeel looks too saturated, I don't know.)
Speaking of which, here they are in their glory! (I used the classic Fire Red sprites)
Fan made shinies are always a blast to see. The real ones can be real disappointing sometimes.
I dig purple Queen here
In my opinion, I really like to see how I can improve on things, and how their result can make an impact on opinions, its an interesting experience. :)
Btw, Thankyou, I'm glad you like Nidoqueen. :) If you wish, you can use it, and any other shiny in your hacks (If you ROM Hack) if it suits you so. :)Posted August 16th, 2018 at 1:03 AM by Ace Trainer Slash
