This week, the group arrives in Hearthome City for the next Contest and Fantasy Stage!

The Contest was dramatically rewritten to account for use of the game rules and the Fantasy Stage. Nando now participates in the Fantasy Stage as a friendly rival to Brock, so he has no reason to be in the Contest.

Nando brings up the Hearthome Theater to set up for an upcoming arc (which replaces the original tag battle arc) and foreshadows BW's Musicals.

I wanted to fit both the Contest (as well as finally showing off what a remixed Appeal competition looks like) and the Fantasy Stage, but that would make the episode run too long, so I split the episode in half, and gave the Fantasy Stage its own episode (which is next time).

I decided to base the Appeal competition on the OR/AS Contests, as the D/P/Pt rules proved too complex to turn into something interesting. This means Mega Evolution can be used as an appeal, but it counts as a single appeal of any types. The Spectacular Talents from OR/AS are their own appeals any Mega Pokemon can use in addition to their basic appeals.

If you're curious, Kori and Stormy danced to this. This foreshadows XY, when one of Serena's Pokemon uses the same song for a solo dance.

Next time, Brock and Nando face off in the Fantasy Stage with Ash, Tintri, and Tarina looking on!
