Why are YouTube commenters so terrible?

It's a sad day when one of your favorite YouTubers tells the world that he will not be having any more series of what the loyal viewers of his videos long for. I remember when the Platinum Nuzlocke of his came on the forums as a response to people who were disappointed from the Heart Gold finale, and people were enjoying when it mostly was a screenshot oriented run before it went up on YouTube. And then once it did, things were not pleasant, to see how he got viewers saying "lol no deaths" and apparently even loyal supporters of his Emerald and Heart Gold series were in that boat. Then when the Champion battle was posted, in literally no time at all people were spoiling the ending on the forums, and he was reaffirmed that that series would be his final one for YouTube...

Until he announced his Black and Black 2 Wedlocke duo in 2014. That was something he was actually excited for, and that the viewers liked a lot as well - including me, since Generation V is my favorite. With that, not only is it clear that he was enjoying himself, but he actually felt a sense of pride and accomplishment upon completing them. And rightfully so, because the final battles against Ghetsis in the former and Iris in the latter had some major luck bouts that he needed to have any chance at winning them!

But the Omega Ruby Wedlocke was a different deal. That was something that came out of nowhere, after his Alpha Sapphire Adventure was met with scathing reception, a series that he tried to put a lot of time into, and it wasn't working out for him. We came to find out that he actually doesn't care for ORAS compared to XY, B2W2 or Platinum. That gives the implication that he was forcing himself to play through a game he doesn't care for to present to the bad fans. And with what happened in the fight against Glacia, he had people saying he cheated, and that the entire series was a failure because of it. It's tragic, when those viewers made such a gigantic deal out of something that I doubt many others could handle on YouTube.

And he said that he "couldn't wait for what was to come after the #ORWedlocke", and the comments he was getting was an indication that it should be what was next. At first it left me wondering what it would be, but then he said it - an extended break from YouTube. Not only that, but he said that he was retiring from YouTube -Locke series AGAIN, and this time it sounds like it's for real. Although I can't say I blame him since he stated that he's done a -Locke on every game now (Emerald, Leaf Green Sleeplocke stream, Platinum, Heart Gold, Black (2), two Y Wonderlockes, and now Omega Ruby), the fact that he was just ripped apart and felt like the entire series was ruined over one mistake he didn't catch until editing was too much for him. If any of you happen to be reading this, I hope you are not one of those people who chewed him out.

This doesn't just apply to Marriland, either - I see a lot of hate on YouTube on many different channels, and pop music videos too. Sometimes I wonder if people just troll and pick away at everything for no reason other than to sound superior...

I was so disheartened to hear Marriland say that he was quitting posting the -locke series on Youtube. They've always been enjoyable to watch, at least for me, and to lose them because of the terrible Youtube community... It's a rotten shame.

What I've learned from youtube: just watch the vids and ignore the comments. There are several reasons why some youtubers disable comments as a whole after all. The youtube community is terrible as it is, and this is just one of the examples.
