"Rapid Review Saturday" is a series in the Daily Bloggity where I look at a video game, movie, or show and give some quick comments on them. Spoilers may be given. This is a weekly series and will appear every Saturday at 5PM ET.

Ever wanted to play as some of your favorite movie heroes while you go and liberate a country in a brotastic fashion? Welp, look no further than BROFORCE!...and yes, it was completely necessary to capitalize the game. Developed by Devolver Digital and FreeLives, Broforce is a silly and fun 8-bit patriotic shooter that has gotten a lot of praise as of late. However, it's currently still in development, but a beta has been released to the public. It's scheduled for release in the second quarter of this year.

Daily Music - "Guns For Hands" by twenty one pilots
Spoiler:
The plot of Broforce is quite simple: "When evil threatens the world, the world calls on Broforce - an under-funded, over-powered paramilitary organization dealing exclusively in excessive force. Brace your loins with up to four players to run 'n' gun as dozens of different bros and eliminate the opposing terrorist forces that threaten our way of life. Unleash scores of unique weapons and set off incredible chain reactions of fire, napalm, and limbs in the name of freedom." Essentially, you get to choose from a selection of famous 80s/90s characters to play as including but not limited too Indiana Brones, Bro Hard, The Brominator, Rambro, and much, much more. With friends, the game is a race against time as you fight to see who can liberate as many people possible and get to the chopper first. At the end of each level you must face against a foreign boss and hoist the flag of freedom while you fly away from the explosive aftermath (insert obligatory hoorah)

Daily Comic - "Aliens" by Bill Watterson of Calvin and Hobbes
Spoiler:
The main hitch of the game though is all the playable movie characters. As of right now, there are 19 playable character, which you can find the list in it's entirety right here. The way it works is you start off with a select group of liberators and once you start liberating more people, the more characters you are able to unlock. It might seem like a hassle, but in all honestly it isn't. You will be so focused on advancing in the game that you'll just inadvertently run into people to liberate, so it's not like you are really going out of your way to save people.

Spoiler:
A few friends and I decided to support the game and got the beta in advance, and damn is it one fun game to play. With four players playing together, there is a lot of destruction and havoc on the screen, which just makes it all the more fun. The great thing about the game is that your character is able to interact with the environment a lot, and thus you can control how you can confront enemies and plan accordingly. I won't lie though, sometimes it's really difficult to see where your going due to all the explosions, but that only adds to the fun as you and your friends race to see who can beat the level first. I definitely feel like it's supposed to be played as a local multiplayer, but playing alone it was just as fun.

This Indie game really did blow me out of the water when I got to experience it for myself. I had discovered it through Youtube, and boy was I happy when I finally got my hands on it. I guess you can say I'm a little bit of a sucker when it comes to 8-bit games as I had an NES when I was younger, so you can say that I'm pretty nostalgia driven. However, don't take that away from the actual game. The pure chaos in this game should be applauded, and hopefully other Indie developers can look at this game and see that you don't have to be a AAA developer to make an outstanding game.

‡ As always, the "Daily Bloggity" is self written by myself and includes just some of my opinions on different mediums. If you have a subject that you might want me to touch on, feel free to PM me or comment below! I would love to hear some of your ideas! Tune in tomorrow at 5PM Eastern Time for the next edition of the "Daily Bloggity!" Cheers! ‡
