This week, the gang arrives in Pastoria City, where Brock wins his second Miracle Jewel, and Ash befriends the Gym Leader Crasher Wake!
This episode was very easy to rewrite from a Croagunk competition to a Fantasy Stage. This way, it could still be important to Brock, and reflect his remixed goal. This also made it easy to take out the evil team (as per the competition rule) and Hamilton, now that the original storyline no longer made sense.
Wake is singing his theme song from Platinum when the gang first meets him.
Originally, Ash and Dawn would be offscreen exploring the Great Marsh while Brock was performing. But the more I thought about it, I realized it would be more meaningful if Ash and Dawn were there to watch. As much as I wanted to show the whole tale, it made the episode run long, so I just moved the second half of the tale offscreen.
