I journal about collecting one of each card from all English-language base sets and expansions (with a few exceptions/conditions). I keep it short and sweet, and concentrate on observations and tales of adventure, not lists of what cards I got on a given day.

It was probably the cute art and the idea of capturing monsters that drew me to collecting PTCG. In addition, I've really enjoyed the exploration/collecting aspect of a number of video games and I wanted to try it in the real world. I knew I would enjoy seeing the collection come together slowly over time. I imagine a big grid that is the scope of the collection being filled in piecemeal by brilliant specks of color.

I thought about "collecting" things with a camera, that is, "hunting" butterflies or plants and snapping pics of them for an album. In the end it's a bit more intriguing to me if the things I'm hunting aren't real. I love fantasy. Also it is easier by far to collect cards, and there's a reasonable chance of "getting everything" without having to travel the world to do it. Not that I'd mind...

So to me my binders are something like a butterfly collection. *tries to erase mental image of pokemon stuck to a corkboard with giant pins*

Most of my hobbies don't benefit from a friendly community, which is unfortunate and a detriment to the hobby. But PC appears to be just that! Having PC encourages me on my adventure.
