-feel free to skip this long thing of text-
It's...honestly hard to believe my Junior year in high school is almost over. I'm sure it's the same with others on here too. Where does the time go, you know?
Anyways, last Monday we began to choose our courses for next year. Being a senior, I only had two required classes this time, with pretty much everything else being an elective, given I had earned all the credits I needed to earn.
What's fun about my credits, though, is that my transcripts from my previous school have .375 credits on them and the like. Yeah. My previous school was nothing like public/my current school. I had to figure out if I still needed a language credit, and if I needed Biology/Chemistry/Physics credits.
As it turns out, I'm through with language (thank god; Spanish was hell for me in high school) and I don't need to take Chem. or Physics, though I do need to take Bio. However, I'm gonna be like the only senior taking regular Bio. next year because they kind of expect us to get it out of the way by then. Which is strange because I'm currently taking Forensics, and in order to get into that I need a Bio. credit, which I obviously don't have.
NONETHELESS, this entry is more or less about what courses I'm hoping to take next year, so here's what I signed up for!
REQUIRED COURSES:
Religion- World Religion/Commitment
English- World Literature Faster Course
The difference between a "faster course" and Honors is that regular English has two courses--one where we learn stuff at a faster rate and another where we learn stuff at a slower rate. I did not know the difference until recently and I had been taking the faster course this year, so seeing how it wasn't too bad I figured I'd take the faster World Lit. course.
ELECTIVES:
Science- Biology/Physics
Music- Honors Concert Band/Piano 2
Computer- Honors Web Design
Social Studies- Psychology
Skills- Marillac
Biology is required for me but not everyone else who got the credit which is why it's in Electives. And Marillac is a program for those with learning differences (not necessarily "retarded" people, as some may call them, but for people with conditions such as dyslexia, ADD/ADHD, etc.). There was an option to take that for a credit or to not take that for a credit, so I'm gonna take that for a credit.
ALTERNATIVES:
Music- Piano 1 instead of Piano 2
Math- AP Statistics or Pre-Calculus instead of Physics
We had to have three alternatives, so here they are. And in case anyone wonders why the hell I can take Piano 2 when I haven't taken Piano 1, the difference is that Piano 1 works with chords while Piano 2 works more with songs. My band teacher also signed me off on it too (we had to get our current teachers to sign off on what we wanted to take), so I should be fine.
In total, my credits add up to 7.5, which is between the minimum and maximum credits.
---
Overall, I hope I get into all my top picks next year. And if I wanna see if I can make a change the registrar happens to be my current English teacher so I wouldn't have much a problem approaching her in the summer.
A lot of people probably don't care about things like this, but hey, you never know. Just thought I'd share what I was interested in, is all.
