NaNoWriMo 2012 Update

I thought I would share a update on how I'm doing in NaNoWriMo 2012.

With 12 days done, I have already reached the 25,000 word mark, meaning that I am halfway to the 50,000 word goal. And I might as well give you some info about my novel.

The title is called "Race to the Horizon". It is based off of the video game, Forza Horizon. I got the game one week before NaNoWriMo started and it became the premise of the story. The cars that appear in the story are also in the game's car roster. Here's the summary I posted for it.

The Horizon Festival in Colorado is a celebration of pulse pounding music and fast cars. As many well known music groups perform in the carnival like atmosphere, the real show is the Horizon Championship, a series of races that utilize all types of roads and terrains around the festival grounds. Racers from all over the world in the fastest cars tear up the roads and highways of Colorado in their mission to defeat the three time Horizon Champion, Darius Flynt and be crowned the new Horizon Champion. Before that could happen, they would have to be rivals like Ramona Cravache, Ali Howard, Marko Baran, Duke Maguire, Zaki Malik and Hailey Harper. The racing will be fierce.

A number of drivers from an unknown world arrive at Horizon 2012 to participate in the Championship. Some of them are just there for the enjoyment of the festival while others are there to race and compete hard. One young man from New York City is looking for a new challenge. Without telling his close friends, he goes to Colorado to participate in the Horizon 2012 Festival with his new Ferrari California, shelving his long time Ferrari 550 Maranello since it wouldn't be allowed at Horizon. His friend/enemy from Miami, Florida who makes his home in Massachusetts, arrives there without his traditional Mitsubishi Eclipse GSX, opting for a brand new Infiniti IPL G Coupe. Their long time rivalry restarts at Horizon and a third wheel arrives in a driver with a Nissan GT-R Black, also looking to stir up the competition.

As I am writing this, I'm not doing it in the traditional way. Since NaNoWriMo doesn't care if you finish it when you get to 50,000 words, I jump around from section to section if I have a hot idea that has to be added there. This does make it a pain to edit if I ever decide to post it somewhere, maybe at my deviantArt page. I may post it, but I may not. You never know.
