A Year of Funny Pictures: July 14th
Is it possible that cattle farms and the ensuing slaughtering may be coming to an end? With today's technology - and some exciting news - it may not be such a far fetched idea.
Last week, a news article broke from The Intertia which reported an up and coming ecofriendly food company, Memphis Meats, having the capacity to grow real meat from stem cells.
While there is a bit of controversy surrounding this, there have been some positives of the synthetic meat. Because it originates from stem cells, Memphis Meats has had the ability to control how much fat the meat would actually contain, allowing the meat to become as nutrient dense as possible. Furthermore, because of the sterile environment in which it would be grown in, there would be no risk of contaminants, eliminating the need for pesticides or antibiotics to damage the meat. And of course, no livestock would be harmed in the process, leaving a better footprint on the world than the current cattle industry does.
