Mood: Off to work!

As each August day keeps slowly folding and turning into the next one, the beginning of college slowly begins to creep up on many of us. Some users here are entering their final years of college, while some users are starting off their freshman year of college; some users are anxiously counting down the days to escape the clutches of their parents, while some users are nervous of making new friends and are concerned about the transition process. Nonetheless, college is a period of time where people will start to learn how to become independent, grow up into adulthood, and forget to do laundry every now and then leaving you to throw on some smelly clothes (woops!)

Spoiler:
I am currently heading into my fourth year of a five year program at - for all you American PC'ers out there - Northeastern University in Boston, Massachusetts. I am a former Nursing student - worked on a maternity floor at Brigham and Woman's - and am now a Human Services major whom, once graduated, will go for his M.A (Master of Arts) in Teaching specialized in Elementary Education in order to become a Kindergarten teacher. That is the goal at the very least. The future is unknown and many things can change in that span of time, but I do want to do something in my life where I can give back to people who helped me in my life and thus is why I'm going into such a profession (maybe in a future entry I'll go more in depth as to this reasoning.)

Spoiler:
I honestly can't wait to go back to college. Like, really can't wait to go back. For the first time in the last 2 years, I will be going to college and actually living there. You see, back in January of 2014, I decided to drop out of my major of Nursing in order to figure out what kind of career I wanted to go into because Nursing wasn't cutting it for me. Thus, I took the semester off. I've been going to college since then - I returned back to school that Fall - but I've been living with my parents and commuting. You see, I love my parents to death; no matter what kind of shit may go down between you and your parents and no matter how much they may annoy you, I'll always unconditionally love them. However, being unable to have that unadulterated and complete independence is very frustrating. Thankfully, with this upcoming semester, I will be able to let these little bird wings fly and I'll be able to leave this nest.

Furthermore, it will just be an excellent time to relax and unwind in terms of my work life. Since January of this year, I've just been doing nothing but working nonstop. The way my college is set up is you go to classes for three months and then you work for three months, and because I had the summer off from classes I've just been working continuously. Both jobs that I've had in that time span have been centered around child care - one in a school and one in a daycare - so I'm starting to hit that breaking part where I want to smash my head against a wall by my work. Granted, that's not exactly the best sign considering the profession I'm going in, but I strongly believe that my future teaching profession will be different because 1.) I haven't taught Kindergarten yet and 2.) I'll have control over what is being taught to my students thanks to the ability to produce my own lesson plan. That, I'm very excited for.

But yeah, college is just around the corner and I am very much stoked. What about you guys? Are you excited about going to college/uni? What year are you going to be? Do you enjoy your major? Or do you absolutely hate it? What are you most looking forward to? Comment below as I'd love to hear and discuss with you what you have to say about this topic!

First off, love Neon Indian. Second, my brother goes to NEU, and as good a school as it is, you're the only two people I know that go there/actually have heard about it haha.

I'm heading into my third year, definitely a little more nervous this year than previous, for various reasons, but going back is always exciting.

Haven't talked to you in a while, but hope you're doing well and that your year is good too!
