So... didja hear about those new games being announced?

Damn, and I thought the new game announcement would be for a 3DS "Fashion Designer" game starring Leaf from FR/LG... Or a Miror B. rhythm dance game...

Well, I have no freaking idea what to think of the latest Pokemon game announcement (B/W 2). The title is ambigious and that's all we have to go on. And given the letdown that was the original B/W, I'm keeping my expectations low so I'm not too disappointed when the games fail to meet them. And so I'll be delightfully surprised if by chance they turn out to be something that I'd actually want to buy.

My three main gripes with B/W, and whether I think they'll be addressed:

*Fashion disaster girl trainer. This could be fixed in B/W2, more likely if it's a sequel set after the events of B/W since chances are it'll be a different character.

*Menu design. Toss-up on whether this would be addressed or not. All I know is I want to see the main menu take back its rightful territory that was usurped by the totalitarian regime of the C-Gear. And make it so new items go to the bottom of the item list, not the top. I put my Max Repels and Lemonades at the top for a reason, namely convenience, and having them shoved aside by some random evolution stone I pick up kinda defeats the whole purpose of convenience.

*Exp system. This probably won't be fixed, which means level grinding players like me remain at a disadvantage.

Legendaries and such, I really don't care about. I'll just end up catching them then let them collect dust in my PC box anyway :P

Oh, and whoever the Big Bad is, let's actually throw them in jail at the end for a change.

My "dream" game will be outlined in my next blog post. Get ready for some really off the wall stuff xD

The exp. system in B/W is not an issue with me, but that's mainly because I have an Action Replay on my person. I used a customized WPM, which lets me choose which guy I would like to fight, & how high of a level it is, & I go from there.

In all honesty, using one of them isn't all that bad - it can sometimes be a necessity at times.

    Brief comments:

-If you're referring to Hilda/Touko/White, I actually love her design (plus I'm a sucker for her spiky "Daisy Duke"-ish shorts :P). I'd probably like B2/W2 to continue the "same player character in different outfit for the 'third version'" pattern (of sorts) that was established by Emerald and Platinum, but new characters could be interesting as well.

-Can't really say much about BW's main menu as I haven't had a hands-on experience with the games, but I think listing "newly-discovered" items at the bottom of the list is better than having them hop to the top all the time. I'm not sure whether an option could be added to allow the player to toggle this to their choosing (bottom or top of list), but it might be feasible.

-Sigh...I haven't experienced the new EXP system in person either, but from what I've read about it, I didn't/don't like the sound of how it's implemented in BW. I wholeheartedly agree with you on how it needs to be returned to how it was before (either that or make training to Level 100 a bit easier)... I mean, I can tolerate large amounts of level grinding for the most part, but there's a limit/threshold to how much monotony I can take. >_> I mean, low-level Pokemon already grew fast with bucketloads of experience (i.e., training while going up against Elite 4/Champion) under the previous system anyway, even without Lucky Eggs...

-Well, that's dependent on whether these will be "polished" B/W games or sequels. If they're sequels, then there would almost have to be new protagonists since (a) the B/W characters would already have strong teams, and (b) depending on how far in the future B/W 2 take place they could be in their 20's... or even their 50's lol.

Again, though, nobody knows what these games are gonna be, so everything is pretty much speculation at this point.

And I like my Pokemon girls with skirts. Or frilly Sunday dresses but that hasn't been done yet :P

-New items have gone to the bottom of the list since Gen 1. I don't see why it had to change for 5th gen, especially because it now means fumbling for your most commonly used items.

-I couldn't even be bothered to get my White team to 100, and that's a first for me. It took me long enough just to get my team sufficiently prepared for the Elite Four (65 hours of game time IIRC) which is just plain crazy.

Honestly the Exp system does make a pretty convincing argument for an AR.
