WTF Did I Just Read? is a series in the Daily Bloggity that compiles some of the weirdest facts from around the Internet into one central place. This will not be a weekly series, but rather just a series that I'll do whenever I feel like it. Each list contains five facts that contains a link to the original article if you want to look more into it.

Fact #1 - Deadly Kite Flying: In Pakistan's Punjab province, the sport of "kite flying" is prohibited due to the danger and killings of people. People would attach glass and adhesive chemicals to their kites to bring down other competitors kites, however, at times kites would go rogue and actually cut spectators throats open. In 2007 alone, eleven people were killed in kite flying accidents.

Fact #2 - Tank Biathalon: On August 12-17 of this year, Russia will be hosting it's Tank Biatholon championship, which countries such as the United States, Germany, and Italy. Competitors must clear a 20 kilometer course while hitting and clearing five targets in the shortest amount of time possible, as well as being able to cross various obstacles like passages and fences.

Fact #3 - You're Too Tall: After the 1966-67 NCAA season, the basketball league decided to ban dunking after the dominant performance of Lew Alcindor - later better known as Kareem Abdul-Jabbar. Standing at 7-foot-1, Alcindor averaged 29.0 points per game by taking advantage of his size and dunking over his opponents. Dubbed as the "Lew Alcindor Rule," the biased rule actually stayed in the league until it's eventual repeal in 1976.

Fact #4 - Graham Those Urges: The Graham cracker, that tasty treat you eat when making smores, was actually invented to prevent people from masturbating. Created in 1829 by Sylvester Graham, he believed that bland healthy foods like the Graham cracker could actually suppress the urges for sexual intercourse, and ultimately created his own diet called the "Graham Diet" that followed this principle. He wasn't alone in this belief - John Harvey Kellogg, the inventor of the corn flakes cereal, believed that his product could have the same result as Sylvester Graham.

Fact #5 - Pentagramic Misconception: The Pentagram - which is supposed to represent one's affiliation with Satan - actually had more pure meanings when tracking back to it's origin. In Judaism, the Pentagram actually symbolized the value of truth, and with medieval Christianity, the Pentagram symbolized the Five Holy Wounds that Christ suffered on the cross.

First one I know about, haha. Kites are flown quite a bit in India as well, that's why. :p

Sure, I've seen people fly kites. A LOT. I've even attempted it myself numerous times. Not successfully, but it was a LOT of fun haha.

The threads have glass pieces fixed on them in order to cut other kites. We have aerial kite battles. People get REALLY competetive at times. :p The thread is called 'manjha' iirc.

Oh, and no, I haven't seen anyone die yet lol. Though I've seen people's hands get hurt. The manjha needs to be carefully handled haha
