Food For Thought About Begging for Modship

It's an age old rule on PC that if you make it obvious you want to be a mod, it's not going to happen. Now let me dissect what this "rule" means. There's a difference between showing enthusiasm for a forum, showing you want to help it and making the staff realize you would affect it in a positive manner.

Now how do you do this?

By dedicating yourself to that forum while showing an interest for PC as a whole. Making smart, intelligent and contributive posts and threads that allow a discussion to blossom and grow. Making concise reports in a non-condescending, helpful tone. Getting to know the current forum's staff members and showing you would make a good addition to our team while not coming off as a brown-nosing know-it-all.

Now how do you take yourself out of the running you ask? I'll tell you what turns us off!

Trying to start a hash tag on Twitter. Constantly reminding people you mod/admin on another forum (seriously this means jack poop to us.) Sending us reports like "Why hasn't this thread been taken care of seriously!?" Fighting and bickering with the staff in a non-helpful manner. Being an egotistical prick who talks about how funny, likeable and how much of a role model you are now (this comes after being promoted DUH. Wait for your time!) Jumping from forum to forum based on when a mod quits in hopes of getting attention and finally promoted. Seriously we pick up on trends. We're not oblivious. If we see you posting in forums that recently had a moderator quit, we'll pick up on it.

So for all of you interested in being a mod on PC, here you go! A look into the mind of one of the people who helps decide on the forum's moderators and what I personally look for when looking for a candidate. While everyone else's criteria varies slightly, we all pretty much look for similar stuff.

I don't want you all to start changing who you are just because of this blog. Some people just aren't cut out to be on the PC staff. And that's fine. If it happens, it will. SO STOP TRYING TO MAKE HASHTAGS ON TWITTER TO PROMOTE YOURSELF FOR A MOD POSITION SERIOUSLY

Anybody who uses hashtags in the first place should just stop. They're stupidly stupid.

If you don't want to become a mod (which looks like quite hard work btw and requires lots of dedication), beg people that you want to become a mod.

Guess I gotta change my personality again.
Apparently you don't...
