Ever wonder why they always referred to Arcanine as a Legendary, despite not being a Legend?
Well, that's because, originally, Arcanine was suppose to be a Legendary. Part of the Legendary Trio, from Gen I, to be exact. When the concept of the Legendary Trio was first concocted, it was planned that Articuno, Zapdos and Arcanine would be the three Pokémon to represent ice, electric and fire, respectively. The people at Nintendo thought it looked odd and would confuse gamers having two birds and one dog as part of a trio, so they decided to replace Arcanine with another bird. Thus, Moltres became the final member to join and form the first Legendary Trio, whilst, Arcanine became one of the strongest non-legendary Pokémon from the first generation.

If you didn't know this before, well, now you know.^^

Who cares if Arcanine is not a legendary? Its BA without any doubt.

Arcanine as a legendary would be awesome and I can see it as a legendary. Arcanine is better then Moltres.

It's like, the most awesome Fire type there is. I've always loved Growlithe and Arcanine. <333

They should have Zapados, Arcanine and some fish thing to form the trio. idek

I heard that it was originally going to be Lapras, Zapdos, and Arcanine, but they wanted to make it a bird motif, so Lapras and Arcanine were demoted to very powerful nonlegendaries and replaced with Articuno and Moltres.

I heard Arcanine and Dragonite is the semi-legends for gen 1. :P
