Blog Entry #2
This week, I have been testing out Infernape.
Cercope (Infernape) @ Focus Sash
Ability: Blaze
EVs: 4 HP / 252 SpA / 252 Spe
Hasty Nature
IVs: 0 Atk
- Overheat
- Endeavor
- Vacuum Wave
- Stealth Rock
The set above has been based heavily on early FEAR sets.
After testing, I decided that it could do more as a suicidal lead, rather than a sweeper.
Infernape takes advantage of it's focus sash by using moves such as Overheat and Endeavor. If Endeavor is used, I am then able to finish my opponent off with Vacuum Wave.
Infernape has a Hasty nature, allowing it to rock 346 Speed. This grants it the ability to out speed a good portion of Pokémon in the current meta.
I do admit that this Pokémon's weaknesses are its downfall (Sandstorm/Hail/Toxic/Fake Out). Pokémon to help counter these weaknesses might include:
- A Steel/Poison/Magic guard Pokémon to help counter Toxic stallers. I recommend Clefable.
- 1-2 Pokémon that are levitating to help avoid a possible Earthquake. I recommend Mega-Pidgeot/ Air Balloon Tapu Koko.
- Cohagrigus to counter Mega-Lopunny/Contact attackers.
Side Note: The name I gave Infernape was 'Cercope'.
The 'Cerope' were mischievous forest creatures in Greek mythology. I gave this name to Infernape for a pretty self explanatory reason.... It's a set designed to mess with the opponent.
