Last time on Randomness, Blue beat Red in our first competition. But now, a new challenger approaches. Yellow.

Yellow is an interesting game. Before, you could compare Scyther and Pinsir, 2 bug types with similar stats. But yellow has both Scyther and Pinsir, but not Magmar or Electabuzz. Overall though, you can't get as many pokemon in Yellow as you can in Blue, as 2 more pokemon can't be caught in Yellow then pokemon that can't be caught in Blue.

Blue- 1, Yellow:0

Game Corner:
Yellow has similar prices to Red on some pokemon, and even higher prices then Red on others.
Blue-2, Yellow:0

Not off to a great start Yellow :p

In Yellow, you don't have a choice of a starter, which would be a bad thing, and furthermore, your Pikachu can't even evolve!

Blue-4, Yellow:0

But, in Yellow, you can get all 3 starters plus your Pikachu, which is 2 more starters then Blue.
Blue-4, Yellow:2

Your rival in Yellow gets an Eevee that evolves differently depending on the outcome of your first 2 battles with him. I find this to be a nice system, and serves as a kind of difficulty option, as Vaporeon is obviously easier to defeat then Flareon or Jolteon.

Blue-4, Yellow:3

Charizard can now learn fly. If you didn't get all 3 starters this could potentially be a problem, but you do, so that's an extra point.

Blue-4, Yellow:4

Next, there's a few changes to make it closer to the anime. I'm not gonna count these changes, because they could be viewed as good or bad depending on your opinion of the anime.

And finally, Yellow has updated sprites for most trainers (backsprites are unchanged).
Blue-4, Yellow:5

Yellow just barely scrapes ahead of Blue. It certainly has it's downsides, but I feel that the pros outweigh the cons.
