Something about HGSS and remakes in general

Not often I blog about games, but anyway.

I recall, how much effort was put in by fans to see HGSS remade. Several years of nagging, and pleading and wishing, but really, I don't think it lived up to expectation. I think it was way over hyped, and personally, I think it's put fans off wanting remakes again. Not as much anyway.

I thought that right after HGSS was over and done with, people would be buzzing for a remake of the RSE games, but they're not. There's simply speculation. I'm pretty sure people just realized that what they wanted, was something no one could execute; a remake with the same experience as the original, only revamped.

Not doubting that there will be an RSE remake, but the pressure on Gamefreak is sure as hell a lot less than it was for HGSS. Did HGSS ruin fans' hope and interest in seeing remakes, despite it being a big hit? Is it out of their system now?

Everyone will still buy it.

The internet just has a giant hate-on for RSE compared to their hard-on for GSC.

i think it's that a lot of fans just don't like RSE. theres a number of people who think that was the worst generation :T. On the flip side GSC is generally a fan favorite. HGSS might have had an impact idk, but I don't think many people would've cared for RSE remakes anyways.

Generation 3 was hated because it brought game breaking changes.

Our old strategies effectively were tossed out the window by things like natures and abilities. Not saying they are a bad thing, just a big reason why there's more hate for Generation 3. That being said, the sequel or generation after the favorite is always hated among fans.

I honestly loved R/S/E. It was a change from the norm, and it felt fresh in my opinion, so I'd honestly love a good R/S/E remake for the 3DS or later generation handhelds. :P

I think that, given the right amount of time, R/S/E will see the same nostalgia boost that G/S/C did.

To be honest, I think every game brought big changes. Gen 2 brought shinies and of course many other things, nothing too big in the way of major game changes, but RSE went into DPP, that was a HUGE step. I don't think people hate RSE. Personally, Emerald is my favourite game.

But on topic, do you guys think that an RSE remake is less in demand than a GSC? Or did HGSS effectively give fans what they asked for, and by doing so, underwhelmed them?

I loved rse.
I don't think there will or should be a remake. I think the reason remakes were made were to solve connectivity issues.
People wanted a remake not just because they loved gsc, but because the pokemon they got could never be transferred over, so playing the old games hurt.

You can play rse and still have your pokemon on bw. We still have our fond memory pokemon from those games. why do we need a remake?

I'd actually like an RSE remake, as would other people who were young around the RSE era.

See, the internet popluation is changing. It's not just being inhabited by the RBGY originals anymore who are mostly off to college, but now by people who started their Pokemon adventure during the times of GSC and RSE, and wouldn't give second thought to playing something as 'outdated' as RBGY. To them, the original thing is GSC or RSE. And I'll be honest, to me, the best experience was RSE. It was new to me. And upon playing Pokemon Blue, it just felt... old. And that's a bias because I didn't grow up with Blue, I grew up with Pokemon Crystal, my first game, technically, but my childhood was mostly composed of Ruby and Sapphire. And I consider the 3rd generation my home generation.

So trust me when I say that RSE remakes will be in demand, just not by the community we are used to, but by the newer and younger people of the internet.
