Mario

"Meet the PokeCommunity'ers" is a series of the Daily Bloggity in which I have a one-on-one with specific members of PC in which we can get to know them more. All responses are in their own words, and questions were made on a general basis. If you would like to see a specific user in the next edition, comment below! This will be a weekly series appearing in the Daily Bloggity at 5 PM Eastern Time every Sunday.

Date: 22 June 2014
Time: 4:04 PM ET
Mood: Embracing my inner Ron Burgandy

[css-div="text-shadow: 2px 2px 5px #000000"]When did you become a member of PokeCommunity and how did you come across it?[/css-div]I became a member of PC in 2009 originally, under the name sugar Ƹ̴Ӂ̴Ʒ. I joined PC even earlier than that years ago, but I don't remember my original name or my original year but I remembered it being a really fun forum to post on when I was younger. So I rejoined in 2009! I like forums a lot and always have a great time, so I knew it'd be an awesome place to be. I sure wasn't wrong!

[css-div="text-shadow: 2px 2px 5px #000000"]What is the significance or origin behind your username? Past usernames?[/css-div]The significance to this current name is that I love the Mario series and Mario as a character, but that the name Mario will also belong to me for real in the future. So I may as well get used to being called it, hm? :3

It's also an umbrella term for the entire series and all of the characters in it. So it permits me to wear any theme with others from the series and have it make sense... like my current one with some of the Koopalings!

Other names from my past in order from recent to oldest include :

MilkFlavored - My artist name, really. I'm called Milk online, specifically on Tumblr. So I just went with this name originally.
Victini - Old account. My favorite Pokemon!
Nameless. - Old account again. I just thought it sounded pretty cool. :D
The Red Chain - I really loved the lake trio back in the day, haha. I had this name the longest!
milkii Ƹ̴Ӂ̴Ʒ - I have no idea why I kept the obnoxious butterfly. But here is the origin of the name 'Milk'. uvu
sugar Ƹ̴Ӂ̴Ʒ - The oldest name that I can recall. Obnoxious. :P

[css-div="text-shadow: 2px 2px 5px #000000"]It seems like you've had a lot of usernames! Do you think you'll stick with this one considering it's so unique, or do you think you might go after a different username a little down the road?[/css-div]I went through a lot of phases when I was younger, can you tell? Hahaha. But yes I definitely think I'll be sticking with Mario for a long time if not for the rest of my PC life. It's quite a significant name in my life as a whole and will eventually be my actual name so I might as well use it, hm?

[css-div="text-shadow: 2px 2px 5px #000000"]Which forum do you see yourself gravitating towards the most and why?[/css-div]Uhm, well honestly I love a lot of forums! I think currently I spend the most time in ORAS, A&D, Pokemon Gaming Central, and Pokemon General. But you'll see me hanging out in other places at random instances too. Usually Chit Chat Cafe General Chat and the other Past Gen Pokemon forums.

Daily Music - "King" by Lauren Aquilina
Spoiler:
[css-div="text-shadow: 2px 2px 5px #000000"]If you could make any improvement to the site, what would it be and why? If you can't think of anything, what would you like to stay consistent?[/css-div]I would change General Chat back to Chit Chat Cafe. Errr, speaking in all seriousness here I have a lot of ideas but I wouldn't be able to pinpoint any at this current time. I think the improvements that have been done since my absence are all amazing though, and I can't wait to see more as time goes on!

[css-div="text-shadow: 2px 2px 5px #000000"]It's funny that you striked through the Chit Chat Cafe; it seems like there are a lot of mixed feelings about the new name change to General Chat. What are your feelings about the new name for this section?[/css-div]Uhh.. in all honesty? I don't like it. Chit Chat Cafe was far more suiting in my opinion. It was cute. I imagined everyone sitting around in a little cafe with a coffee cup full of a liquid of choice, chattering away. It was just far more welcoming and warm.. like an actual cafe! General Chat is just way too close to the section's old name. It's kind of boring to be quite frank..

[css-div="text-shadow: 2px 2px 5px #000000"]What is your favorite pokemon and why?[/css-div]Oh I actually answered this accidentally. PFF. My favorite Pokemon is Victini! I've got a past with this little guy. At first I thought it looked absolutely crazy and thought the concept of a 'Victory' Pokemon (essentially a Pokemon that can't lose.. or so I thought) was absolutely ridiculous. But as time went on I began to love it more and more until I was slightly obsessed with the fire rabbit. It contains both of my favorite types, has the strongest fire move of all time as it's signature move, and is just the cutest little thing. It has quite a beautiful and complimenting color scheme as well!

Anyway, I've roleplayed as a Victini in the past too. Spent years running a blog revolved around a Victini character that I spent a lot of my free time drawing. Because of that, Victini is also the reason that I've become rather decent at drawing these days too! It's just a being that I'm really infatuated with even to this day. Because of all of the time I spent loving it, drawing it, and admiring it in the movie, I feel kinda... close to it I guess? It's strange, but yeah that's probably about right. XD;

[css-div="text-shadow: 2px 2px 5px #000000"]Can you elaborate more on this Victini roleplay you did? I'm actually very curious about this![/css-div]Oh sure! I used to run a blog on tumblr within the Pokemon ask community with a Victini character. (among a few other characters too later) The Pokemon ask community entails roleplaying, but in a slightly different manner. Most everyone in the community is a digital artist, so they draw replies to questions others send in and draw out interactions with other characters. It's why I became so proficient at drawing Pokemon and stuff in such a short amount of time! My blog was really popular back in the day, so I was drawing all the time while running it.

But I quit eventually (after 2 years ish?) because the community itself began to give me gray hairs.

[css-div="text-shadow: 2px 2px 5px #000000"]I just took a look at your shop and seriously, you have a true blue talent when it comes to making art! Do you have a favorite medium in which you like to work in/what would you say is the most difficult art style that you've attempted to do?[/css-div]Oh shucks, thank you! Well, I can tell you that I use Paint Tool Sai for all of my artwork. It's my favorite medium, definitely! The brush stroke/pressure detection is superb! I usually will just sketch up my drawing first, then start linearting on another layer with Sai's neat stabilization feature and ta-dah! Beautiful lines! As far as difficult art styles go, it would definitely be my old art style. Because I used to make my sketch the same thing as my lineart. So basically I would sit there and clean up my lines for a really long time until they looked decent. :D;

This was before I learned the magic of separating lines and sketches.

Daily Comic - "Luigi" by Zac Gorman
Spoiler:
[css-div="text-shadow: 2px 2px 5px #000000"]If you were granted a wish and could wish for anything - besides more wishes and more genies - what would you wish for and why?[/css-div]Wings that can come forth through my arms to be used for flight, rather than on my back like an angel. (how birds are, really) Oh that is such a cliche wish, I know. But ever since childhood I've wanted to be able to fly. Always daydreamed about it and dreamed about it at night. To this day I dream about it at nighttime, and I'm always able to fly through my arms in every single dream I have. Even though they are dreams, it feels like the realest thing to me.

It's an absolutely amazing and free feeling... like no other in the world.
I want to be able to experience it in real life, too.

[css-div="text-shadow: 2px 2px 5px #000000"]What is your favorite video game or series and why?[/css-div].. Oh this one's obvious. The Mario series! :D Why? Well it's honestly hard not to love the characters in Mario - including the enemies! I've got a weak spot for whimsical and comedic things. This series has all that with the added bonuses of a fantasy setting and super lovable characters and concepts.

The games are amazing too. I can't think of a single one that I just straight up don't like.

[css-div="text-shadow: 2px 2px 5px #000000"]They truly are great! I'm personally a huge fan of the Super Mario Galaxy series! Has one of the best OSTs in a video game in my opinion. If you had to choose a select game though that trumps all Mario games though, which one would you choose and why?[/css-div]YES. The Mario Galaxy series has such a delicious OST! We need more orchestra pieces for games in the future. It must be law.

Though I think if I had to choose a single game out of the whole Mario series it would be Mario & Luigi : Dream Team. My reasons for loving this game so much are endless. It's the most 'personal' game of the entire Mario series, and that's one reason I just feel so attached to it. What I mean by that is that there are so many displays of the bond between Mario and Luigi throughout the whole game - usually involving Luigi doing something crazy and really un-Luigi-like in order to help his 'Big Bro'. They're a true blue team in this game and their bond like no other. Luigi is usually seen as the comedic relief in every game, and of course, as the loser little brother. But in Dream Team he's a hero right alongside his brother, while still being very silly and clumsy as he usually is. But I got to see a whole other side of Luigi I never knew existed in that game.

And don't even get me started on how gorgeous the graphics are. From the music, to the environments, to the dream world/real world switches, everything is just perfect. It's all very breathtaking. Though, I still think my favorite thing is the frequent displays of brotherly love between Mario and Luigi.

Their bond is awe-inspiring.

[css-div="text-shadow: 2px 2px 5px #000000"]Who is your favorite video game character and why?[/css-div]... Dohoho. Once again, I made this question easy. My favorite video game character is definitely Mario, right alongside his adorable twin brother Luigi! They're silly, they're awesome, they were a big part of my childhood... and I just really love how contrasting their personalities are. While the latter is true, I find myself relating to the both of them very closely.. especially Mario.

We're both hard-headed, cheerful, reckless, and a little too brave for our own good!

Spoiler:
[css-div="text-shadow: 2px 2px 5px #000000"]What would you say is your dream vacation?[/css-div]I'm going to sound like such a loser for this one, but... probably a visit to Japan. But first I want to make sure I save up a whole ton of money! Because I want to go to Japan not only for the culture and the lovely change of scenery, but for all of the amazing stores and products within Tokyo. I can't express in words how badly I want to go to a Pokemon Center over there. ;A;

It's also the origin for many beautiful pieces of artwork known as video games, anime series, merchandise, and it's chock full of amazing voice actors.

Definitely a dream vacation if I've ever heard of one. <3

[css-div="text-shadow: 2px 2px 5px #000000"]Who is your favorite artist/song?[/css-div]My favorite artist? I can't say I have one, actually. I love tons of music so it's hard to choose. But my favorite song of all is definitely King by Lauren Aquilina. I relate it really closely to my own life and it helped me get through a lot of things. I will always love that song.

[css-div="text-shadow: 2px 2px 5px #000000"]What would you say is your favorite TV or cartoon to watch as a kid?[/css-div]Definitely the Looney Tunes! I grew up watching it, laughing at it, and adoring all of the many characters within. The stories are humorous, the behaviours comedic, and it's just very.. well.. looney! .. Err.. this might be why I love comedy and animated things so much now that I think about it.

That's all, folks!

[css-div="text-shadow: 2px 2px 5px #000000"]Outside of PokeCommunity, what are your favorite hobbies? What interests you?[/css-div]Art art art art. Oh, and acting! (Though that's kinda art too, isn't it?) I love to draw, I love watching others draw, I love seeing the pieces of others, and I really love watching acting shows in theaters. Acting and drawing are two things that interest me greatly and I apply them to my own life all the time.

I'm also a roleplayer, though that fact isn't known much to many. I consider it a form of acting and I'm not too bad at it either! Getting inside of another character's mind and figuring out how they work is something I adore doing. Writing is pretty fun too!

[css-div="text-shadow: 2px 2px 5px #000000"]Because you are a fan of acting, have you been in any plays? Is there a specific play/musical that you think people should see/you would want to see?[/css-div]I have not been in any plays in front of a huge audience, no! I vaguely remember playing a big part in a play when I was younger, but that was elementary so it's very hard for me to remember anything about it. But if I were to recommend a play for you all to go see, it would be Noises Off. I was literally crying from laughter in that theater. XDD; The whole thing is just absolutely hilarious and I could hardly find a moment to breathe. Pffff.

Definitely go see it, especially if you like comedy! I'd gladly go watch it again given the opportunity!

[css-div="text-shadow: 2px 2px 5px #000000"]Want to give a shoutout to a fellow PC'er?[/css-div]To you, for your fantastic blog and the opportunity to be on it!

Also, HI SYD. HI WENT. HI FAIRY.

Syd told me in specific to give her a shoutout so here you are, butt.
