I have yet to play any other fire emblem games, so I don't know how they compare, but I hear fates was terrible. I really liked fates, so hopefully that means the other games are gonna be amazing.

Anyways, onto the review:

I really really liked the game. I would give it a 9/10.

In terms of gameplay, it's certainly a unique concept, and I've never seen any games quite like it. It was really confusing, and not at all what I expected at first, and I kinda hated it, but after playing through just a few chapters, I found it really fun, and would do excessive grinding, just because I liked the combat system.
The leveling is really interesting too, and makes me want to plan out my every action, from when I use master seals, to if I want to use a heart seal or not. It really gets me thinking a lot, and I like that.

The weapons triangle took me a while to get used to, until I realized Red beat Green, Green beat Blue, and Blue beat Red, kinda like pokemon.

But the above stuff applies to all of fire emblem. Let's get into some Birthright specific features, shall we?

I really liked the characters overall. There are a few nohrian characters that beat all the hoshidian people IMO, but I also disliked quite a few nohr characters. I didn't particulary dislike any of the hoshidian characters, although there were some I found... strange. I liked the classes a lot too, like Kinshi knight, ninja, and kitsune.

In terms of chapters... they weren't bad, but some of them were slightly bland, or ridiculous. Although, my main issue with the story got fixed later, so I didn't mind anymore late in the game.

So yeah, that's pretty much it. I honestly didn't have many complaints, and it was a great entry point into the series.

What was the main issue you had with the story at first? Are you gonna start Conquest soon?

The story at first was a bit slow, and until around the middle of the game, I thought it was a rather bland story. But the end of the game kinda made up for that, with a lot of crazy events happening every chapter.

And yes, I'm gonna do conquest soon, but playing through BR on classic now, just so I'm more prepared.

Birthright: the side of story.

Conquest: the side of gameplay.

Revelations: the side of revelations, but some are hidden in DLC, and you'll wish it were longer than a mere 27 chapters cuz it was super condensed. & Knuckles Hinoka.
