Been a long time since I've written one of these eh? As my university career comes to a close, another path has opened up for me. And as you might be able to tell by the title of this blog entry, I have relocated! Around the 17th of April, my girlfriend and I decided to move to a new city in pursuit of our careers, and as I am typing up this blog entry I am happy to say that I am residing in the city of Chicago now!

It was a bit of process, that I have say. Unfortunately for me, my family wasn't the most supportive in the move - because I am the youngest child and my brother (who is about 3 years older than me) still lives at home, I believe they really wanted me to stay home for a bit and follow the route that my brother did. However, I found that living with my parents during my college tenure turned out to be very toxic and our relationship strained as a result. Hopefully this time apart may be able to make amends for the damage that they caused. Only time will tell.

Spoiler:
The area is pretty good, and I'd have to admit Chicago is a step up compared to Boston where I previously lived. There aren't as many cars here, and I've found that the roads and sidewalks are much wider compared to Boston. Furthermore, the layout of Chicago is much more stratified and grid-like, making commuting by foot very easy compared to the windiness and irregularity of the Boston street networks.

As a sports fan, it's been really cool being enveloped of the atmosphere here. While they have both been eliminated now, the city was pretty hyped for the Blackhawks and Bulls in their respective playoff runs. It was a bit awkward for me as the Chicago Bulls had ben matched up with the Boston Celtics in the first round, but their sadness made me happy in the end as my Celtics came out on top. My girlfriend and I have visited a few bars so far that showcased the games, and it's just been an overall pleasurable experience so far.

We're only going to be here for six months, but already I am in love with the Chicago area. I'm hoping to continue my blog moving forward, but history has shown in the past that keeping things continuous has been difficult. However, I'll still do my best. Anyways: what about y'all? Have you ever moved anywhere new? To where? How was the move overall? Comment below as I'd love to hear and discuss with you what you have to say about this topic!
