Well as a lot of you are aware, I'm currently studying to become a teacher... or at least I should be. Truth be told though, six months of this year are going to have equated to exactly zero study due to my university messing things up. During my last study period they lost my enrolment - there goes three months of uni - and this study period they managed to enrol me for the next SP instead of the current one.
This has put in a bit of a predicament. Whilst I am working as a dance teacher, the amount I earn from that isn't enough to cover expenses outside of my own lessons for comps and things. So I rely on a study allowance from the Welfare department... which I haven't been able to receive due to technically being enrolled to do any study.
This has resulted in me being switched to a job-seeker's payment which has a pre-requisite that I apply for 15 jobs a month until I resume study otherwise my pay will be cut. With that in mind, I have decided that I'm going to be looking for work with a tutoring agency or as a teaching assistant until such time as my study is resumed.
I'm actually a bit excited about the prospect of getting some more in-class experience working as a TA or tutor honestly. I don't actually need to land the jobs so long as I apply for fifteen a month, but as I can't study for a while I don't see why I shouldn't just apply for jobs I might actually want on the off chance I actually land one.
With that being said I have found four schools that are looking for TAs at the moment, two of which I have connections at through dancing. So it seems likely that I'll end up working at one of them soon. I'm not too sure what to think of this situation honestly, since it shouldn't be happening anyway, but I'm determined to make the most of it one way or another.
