Now this will be a bit of a rage-fest so don't read if you don't like these sorts of blog entries. This will also be probably the longest blog entry I am ever compiling here so I got tired a lot when writing this.
I remember a time back in 2008 or something when I first watched the Sinnoh saga of the Pokemon anime in my humble Australia, on a kid's programming block called Toasted TV which aired on Channel Ten. I was watching the episodes from the 10th season of the Pokemon anime, Pokemon Diamond & Pearl. First episode I probably watched from that season might be the one where Dawn entered a Contest or she and Ash battled those twins with the Quilava and Croconaw or something, but I couldn't remember.
Then, come 2009 and I first watched Battle Dimension, it may have been a year behind the US but at least the episodes were alright. Same when I first watched Galactic Battles in 2010, the Team Galactic arc was kinda epic. Then, September 2010, Pokemon Black and White (soon to be my favorite games) came out in Japan and then the Best Wishes saga of the anime started airing in Japan, then followed by the US in February 2011. I was wondering when it would make it to Australia, when Toasted TV started airing the final DP season Sinnoh League Victors. September 3rd, 2011 the final DP episode aired, and man I cried so much. And finally the first dubbed Unova season, Pokemon Black & White started its Australian run the following week on September 10, 2011. The day the episode when Ash caught Tepig aired, it was my 19th birthday and I got my beloved Pokemon Black Version, finishing the main story in 13 days, just shy of a fortnight. I loved the story of this game to be honest.
2012 was when it all started going downhill for me. Channel Ten had announced a new breakfast news show called Breakfast which was to air in the 6-9am slot. I was then speculating what would happen to Toasted TV when Breakfast aired. I then found out via one of Australia's most popular TV news websites, TV Tonight that Toasted TV was making the switch to Ten's sister channel Eleven. However, Breakfast debuted a little earlier than its scheduled premiere thanks to the resignation of the then-Australian Foreign Affairs minister Kevin Rudd.
The show was alright, but I hated the set. Toasted TV's first airing on Eleven, February 27, 2012, as well as the continuation of Black & White was scheduled for the next week. I then watched the rest of the episodes, and then when it finished the Sinnoh saga got re-aired again with Battle Dimension, which I started getting sick of. Then I started getting more love for all the fun comedy shows over on the ABC, and as of June 2012 my interest in the Pokemon anime started to wane because I knew that constantly re-airing a certain saga would eventually signal the end of watching it for me.
Toasted TV then re-aired Black & White again around the later half of 2012, and in February the second BW season, Rival Destinies started airing in the US and I was then speculating when Australia would get it, but given Toasted TV's "obsession" with the Sinnoh saga I knew that we would probably fall a year behind the US.
December 25, 2012, I got my copies of Black 2 and White 2, and again I was still hearing when Rival Destinies was going to make it to Australia, a few weeks later the premiere was announced to be January 28, 2013. I was so anticipated, and then suddenly after reading a post in Serebii's "Pokemon In Australia" thread, which is probably one of the only parts of Serebii I involve myself in nowadays, that it was going to be RERUNS OF DP GALACTIC BATTLES INSTEAD!
I then finally decided I have totally lost all hope in Toasted TV, which has been getting worse for me since the Eleven switchover. Even worse, the Pokemon X and Y games were announced earlier in the month and then the third and final BW season, Adventures In Unova was going to debut in the US. Toasted TV are, in my opinion, fans of the 4th Generation and that makes me mad. They have also been treating Yu-Gi-Oh! badly too, constant reruns of 5D's despite the latest saga being Zexal. Then, at the end of November, Breakfast (the show that made Toasted TV worse for me) met its demise due to viewers not liking the presenters.
I bet that by the time we get Adventures In Unova, the saga for X and Y would probably be already airing in the US. This shows why we are always so late at airing new episodes of Pokemon, not to mention there are so many other shows I'm looking forward to this year that I think would be much more entertaining and fun than the Pokemon anime. My interest in the Pokemon anime was basically over.
So yeah, according to me and this blog title, my modern life is rubbish.
