If you want to know the real me, just turn the page in my dirt road diary.
It’s right there for you to see, every kiss, every beer, every cotton field memory.
Tan legs & some Dixie Land delight, ridin’ round, windows down on a summer night.
I was there, and that was me. It's right here in my dirt road diary.

One year? Piece of cake.

Today I've been on staff for one full year.

Well technically...on June 30th 2012 at 9:50 PM PDT. But I'm writing this now since I'm going on a short LOA. (Long story, I'll probably explain to a few on IRC :3)

I was home alone, eating dinner as usual. As I finished, I went ahead on the comp and I received an IM from quilzel. So, we talk for a while, and I just tweet this on my twitter:

“I had too much fun today.”

Immediately, Drewy responds to me: “You...had better get on PC before you pass out from all that fun.”

Ok, so I get on. Quilzel had to brb so I went ahead and got on PC and got a PM from one of the h-staff.

>opens and reads PM
>falls out of bed fainted
>5 minutes later sends HOLY FRIGGIN CRAP CAPS LOCK response (aka yes I wanna be mod.)

I IMed quilzel again to tell him the news. He...got excited as well. He didn't believe it at first. XD As I was told that I'd be bold blue in a few moments, quilzel and I went ahead and refreshed PC a bazillion times while Iming “IS IT BLUE YET? IS IT BLUE YET?” We..could have broke PC. XD And so at 9:50 PM, I was bold blue. “I must be dreaming omg...” and I wasn't.

BUT... I can't go to my profile and thank the people that vmed me yet. There was one active report. My first reaction: should I wait for someone to tell me what to do...? I'm someone who would rather jump ahead immediately rather than read the rules first and wait for someone to tell me what to do. Logged on ModCP with my credentials, went to reports section, report directs me to the troubled thread, and BAM. Locked my first thread. It was a quick trade post. I started to officially moderate at 9:54 PM.

I was at the point where I just wanted to stay up all night and hang out at PC, but I needed to sleep. There was an exam tomorrow and I had to get enough sleep. So at 10, I logged off and went to sleep. BUT I COULDN'T DUE TO THE EXCITEMENT. So I stayed up a bit more to write this long acceptance speech. Went to bed at 3 am, woke up at 6. That night I had less sleep, but it was worth it. Haha.

I..don't know what to say, really. I figured I'd probably quit after a month or two. But I was able to manage the work. Even though I had college, I was on track for graduation, and IRL stuff such as babysitting my little niece and helping my sister around the house because she was pregnant at the time I had the time, despite all the stress. I spent it by welcoming a few members in NU/W and keeping the section running, and besides...welcoming members is a good stress reliever.

There were some awesome moments, some stressful moments, and also there were some moments that made me sad. I will mention a few though. One would be the departure of two of the best staff members I've met: Larry (Hiidoran) and Drewy. They helped me a ton, especially during my first few days as a mod. So, they're like my mentors. Another would be a very, very, very good NU/W regular: Brickbusterx. He was the nicest, most sweetest member I have ever met, and I'll be honest I wanted him to be the next NU/W mod someday, but due to his depression of his friend passing away, he left PC. I'm admitting rn that I wish I talked to him more....:x he was nice to every member that came through the doors of NU/W.

There was a point in time that I did mod NU/W on my own, but family issues got in the way...so I couldn't do so alone. And that's where Teezee (Snivy063) came around. He's become a HUGE help. Since he joined PC, I raised him in NU/W, so oftentimes I call him my son. :3 We have both grass-type names, and numbers, we're a super duper powerful team. We were able to bring great things to NU/W...reviving the New User's Hangout, opening the Adoption Center, as well as omitting a few rules to make NU/W more welcome and friendly. Of course, I'll give some credit to my old partner though. ;3

I'm like “wow” rn. A year really did go by fast. I've met a ton of new members. Some became really good friends of mine (Sector Revenge and Mentalli for example :3) Some, however...I was able to see them grow up to become moderators as well (like Mac, AlexOzzyCake, and Snivy063). It brings me a tear, actually. It's like seeing your children grow up and becoming what they desire.

Ugh...it's long and I should probably head to sleep now. This is like last year when I CAN'T SLEEP. Lmao. Again, I'm quite happy that I was able to make it this far. :3 Maybe I'll make it to two years? Who knows...it all depends on life!

Well done on surviving so long! :o You're a great mod, especially when it comes to welcoming people to the site - you're one of the first mods they see :D.

    To another year! *raises glass*

Also I burst into song when I saw your blog title.

    omg megan you're amazing. <3
That was an adorable entry, legit. You ARE like a mommy, and you definitely act like one to all new members. Heck, I joined just a few months ago and we've spoken so few times, but I still think of you as a mommy of PC members! You helped me so much, and plus you're an amazing mod in general, AND YOU'RE LIKE MY WATER MOMMA (reference to the club). But i hope we get to see you making two years as a mod, and congratulations for your one year anniversary! c:
