Nah tbh I frickin hated it lmao. I moved out of Phoenix back to Lousiana at the end of 2017 and moved away from home to another city a year ago and havent been working in a salon the entire time

Your friend must have been really confused, I guess if you live there long-term you'd need someone who can read/write/speak Japanese to translate things like official paperwork for you (like alien registration, moving papers, etc) but it's not something you're required to have yourself.
