Nope, I think that'd cover it. I'll PM you the .ips file and the screenshots and flag details sometime late tomorrow. (And PM me if I don't, I might have gotten distracted. :P)
Hey, about your offer to level script for ToxicPurple: do you think you could make a level script that'd change some map tiles? Currently, there are a bunch of tiles of boxes and such in the main room of the Saffron Base, and there's going to be similar boxes in the Break Room; about half of them are going to disappear, leaving plain floor tiles, after a certain event. If I gave you the current .ips, told you which maps are going to change, gave you screenshots of what the maps will look like post-event, and told you what flags the event is going to use, could you make two level scripts (one for each of the two maps) that'll make the tiles and movement permissions switch from boxes and "1"s to floor tiles and "C"s after the event? I don't know if level scripts change tiles like that (the scripts behind the card key doors in Silph Co. baffle me XD), but if so, I'd appreciate the help.
Thanks for the offer, but I fixed the problem with the script. I was giving applymovement commands to an offscreen OW, but they weren't picking up because I'd used an applymovement on the same sprite in a previous script, so it wasn't sitting where I thought it would be (the default position) when I gave it the new applymovement. Stupid problem that's been solved now. :D
Finally getting back to you about the scripting... Do you think you could make scripts for some of the NPCs in Saffron City? I'll need scripts for person event nos. 9, 10, 11, 14, and 15, so you can check their scripts and see what their original dialogue was like. They'll actually need two sets of dialogue: one for before Team Rocket takes over Silph, and one for after Red defeats Team Rocket. I've got the flags rigged up so that the NPCs will disappear while Team Rocket's in control and come back afterwards, so you don't need to worry about hidesprites. The flag I'm using to signal Team Rocket's defeat is 666. (It was easy to remember...) Pre-takeover, Saffron citizens might sorta be able to tell that the Player they're talking to might be with Team Rocket, but they won't know anything about the imminent takeover. Post-takeover and liberation by Red, they'll know full well that the Player is a Rocket.
Don't worry about offsets, I can assign offsets and compile them into the game myself. Just let me know which script goes with which person event no. Thanks.
XD I wish I were a god. Then I could get unLZ.gba to work...
Actually, I do need some help. Do know how to insert sprites into a ROM? Or anyone that does? Every tutorial I've found so far says you need to use several programs that just don't work on my Mac no matter what I do. Argh.
And at some point, I might need someone to script some NPCs, the characters that wander around towns saying "Mr. Fuji is a very nice man" or "There's a great display at the Pewter Museum!" and random stuff like that. It'd take forever for one person to come up with new dialogue for every NPC. (Not that every NPC will need a new script. But if the original dialogue is "I wish the Elite 4 would come and stomp Team Rocket..." it wouldn't make sense to say that to a Grunt.)
... Geez, I've been scripting too much today. I just caught myself looking at phrases and trying to figure out if they were 34 characters long.
Your hack sounds incredibly good
Much better than all the other newbies who have made their thread.
Would you need a scripter, becuse I can help if you do.
