January 3rd, 2009 7:22 PMEmiiWell I'm glad 4 of them were healthy! But it really makes me sad when kittens die.. That's happened to us before.. some kittens will be born and not be alive. And one time, my boyfriend found 2 kittens under his house. So we took them to my house. After I held them, I noticed I had tiny little worm looking things crawling on me, so I freaked out. But then one of the kittens started bleeding out of his ear, so we rushed them to the vets. They had maggots crawling on them, and they were eating the poor kitten's brain. Luckily one of them survived though. but it was SO sad!
Maybe I shouldn't talk about such sad things. =\ -
January 3rd, 2009 6:21 PMAn-chanYeah, they have that funny ability to reproduce without male cats xD Our older cat's mom had a male name and all until she suddently gave birth! She wasn't even a year old yet... But, well, that unwanted pregnancy was lucky for us, because the family couldn't find a home for the last kitten. Then, when my mom went to visit her aunt who lives next door to that family, they asked if we wanted to take the kitten... Well, mom wanted ^-^ And that's how we got our older cat. Our younger cat was a wanted child, all right. The family of his mother had tried to have kittens for years. That time she made it, although one of the kittens was born dead and one of them has a malformed spine... The other four are perfectly healthy, though!
It seems that I am babbling nonsense again xD Sorry! -
January 3rd, 2009 5:05 PMEmiiAww. =( We've always had female cats, and it seems like every one we get will get pregnant. Even if there are no male cats around (that we know of). At one point, we had literally 30 cats. It was crazy. XD

January 3rd, 2009 1:04 PMAn-chanAwww, kittens! Our older cat is a male, so the babies he had never actually lived with us... Until one of them was old enough and came to live with his father ^-^ I just love kittens and cats! I can imagine you're on high spirits...

January 3rd, 2009 10:27 AMAn-chanOh, I'm so sorry! I didn't notice your VM until now. I hope you can forgive me -_-
And, although I'm late, I hope you had great Christmas and happy New Year. I had, at least, so I hope it was good for you, too...
I'm so sorry for not noticing the VM!! -

November 6th, 2008 1:19 PMEmiiNot living close to the ocean is.. kinda normal for me. we have big lakes and rivers, but that's it. we have alot of forest, and alot of prairie. sometimes it's really nice, but sometimes I really want to live close to the ocean.. I used to want to be a marine biologist, and I would definately have to live by the ocean for that! XD and I'm not sure if I've ever seen wallabies before.. besides on tv a loooong time ago. aren't they kind of like small kangaroos?
Wow, polar bears in Finland? where do people think it is, Antarctica? maybe the north pole? XD -
November 6th, 2008 11:51 AMAn-chanI've seen dolphins, but only in an aquarium. They were my favourite animals, too, for a couple of years. Now I like cats, guinea pigs and wallabies the most
Whenever I go into a zoo, I just stay by the wallabies so long my mom and brothers all get angry at me xD
And when it comes to the ocean, I don't know if the Baltic Sea counts as one, when it's only about 65 meters (about 214 feet) deep and also pretty small, but it's a sea all right and I can see it from my window ^-^ Iäve never lived in a place that didn't have sea nearby, so I can't really imagine what's that like. Oh, and I've also seen the Atlantic ocean, twice! I've even swam in it. It was pretty cool with the big waves and all, but I dislike the way salt water makes your skin all sticky.
Oh yes they did. And also, I've heard of people who think we have polar bears in Finland. And not only that: they think we have polar bears in Helsinki! My grandpa's sister, who lives in Salt Lake City, had a friend who thought there were polar bears in Helsinki. Then, one time when the said sister of my grandpa was visiting Finland, she got a cup with a picture of a polar bear on it from an ice cream bar. So, she took the cup with her to Salt Lake City and gave it to her friend as a present... I think that poor woman still thinks there are polar bears in Finland. ^-^'' -
November 6th, 2008 8:30 AMEmiiOh yeah! We have foxes too, although I've never actually seen one. and we have skunks.. not fun >< and if I get up early enough in the morning, I see tiny little bunnies sometimes. =D they're sooo cute! But I've never seen my favorite animal, dolphins. I've never even seen the ocean before. I'd love to go somewhere and be able to pat and feed the dolphins. and swimming with them would be even better. ^_^
and people really thought Finland was in Michigan...? -_-; people like that embarass me.. XD -
November 6th, 2008 4:56 AMAn-chanBut you knew it excisted! Yay for that, really! I know people who had never heard about this place ever and thought it's like in Michigan or something...
We really don't have chipmunks! We have squirrels, though, but they're a bit more red and a tad smaller than their American couterparts. Also our sparrows are a lot smaller that your sparrows. I don't know why, really... But the only animals I see regularly are birds, pet dogs and cats. Even more so because we have a dog and two cats. Sometimes when we go to my grandparents' summer house, I see mice, frogs and tiny lizards also. When I was a kid, I used to try to catch those lizards... Occasionally I even actually caught one
There are also foxes and badgers around that summer house, but I've only seen a fox once and never a badger that was alive. So, not very much wildlife around here. There should be more in Lapland and Central Finland, tho. -
November 5th, 2008 3:18 PMEmiiI didn't know very much about it at all. I just knew it was small and Finnish was spoken there. ^_^;;
and you really don't have chipmunks? wow. now that I think about it, I haven't seen one for awhile. I see squirrels all the time though. and sometimes I'll see deer too. and possums and ducks and armadillos.. and sometimes wild turkeys. =) but that's pretty much it. Nothing interesting like kangaroos like the Australian people have. XD -
November 4th, 2008 1:33 PMAn-chanWhat did you know about Finland? I'm suprised you had heard of it, many people don't :D Yay for you! *claps*
I've been to USA once! I visited my mom's aunt who lives in a small town near Boston. Her daugher (my mom's cousin) had her wedding then, that's why we flew over... But I was there only for a week. I enjoyed it, though. USA is a really cool coutry, I felt like I was in a movie
I disliked all that sitting in a boiling hot car, though. I never liked cars in the first place and when it's 90F inside them, I can't think of a worse place. (90F was what the car thermometer said the temperature was. I wouldn't know, since I can't use Farenheit degrees. We use Celsius here so I have no idea how hot 90F is supposed to be
) Oh, and I saw a chipmunk. We don't have those here, so I was thrilled ^-^ besides, sodas are a lot better there than in here. -
November 4th, 2008 1:17 PMEmiiOh sorry, I didn't know that Finland was bilingual.. ^_^;; I dunno.. I took Spanish in school for 2 years, so I tried really hard to try to learn it so I could pass. But I didn't do well.. I passed, but I still didn't do well. I should have tried learning another language when I was younger because it's easiest when you're young (I think..), but I didn't really care when I was young. I wish a 2nd language was required in the US, like it is in other places. We have alot of languages spoken here.. Spanish, a little French, Vietnamese, and ALOT of Native American languages, like Cherokee. But Cherokee is dying off, so I think it's important for people to learn the dying native languages. But nobody cares. I'd love to, but nobody I know teaches it.. It's like the very beginning of the culture here is being forgotten, it's sad really.
and I had heard of Finland before, but I didn't know much about it at all. I've learned alot talking to you, thanks! :D -
November 4th, 2008 1:07 PMAn-chanActually, by the way, Finland is bilingual. Our second language is Swedish, but not that we all speak it very well. I, for one, never had the interests to learn it very well. I can understand it, though. It's an official language here because there are so many native Swedish speakers living in Finland. After all, we were a part of Sweden once. And then a part of Russia. We got our intependence just before Russia became the Soviet Union, so we're not the oldest of intependent countries

And I don't think that English is hard at all. I've been studying it since I was really small and when about half of the shows on TV are in English (subtitled, of course, but we only dub children's shows), it's not really that hard to learn the language. Besides, in our schools, we have to start studying our first language when we're on third grade (about 9 years old). Finnish really isn't useful in any other place of the world so our school system (and society overall) encourages us to study other languages. Practically every Finnish kid has to study three languages: Finnish, Swedish and English. So, I'm not really that smart... I've studied French and Japanese, though, and that's not something most people do. Well, French is pretty popular here.
But yeah, all of us study English, so don't overestimate me ^-^'' I've understood that studying other languages isn't a very big deal in USA, UK and Australia, for instance. So, I think one's ability to learn new languages depends greatly on their pattern of thoughts. We are told we have to learn, so we learn. You don't have to, so... you don't :D Finland is a small country, as I said before, so we really need to know other languages.
By the way, just out of curiousity, had you ever heard of Finland before you first spoke to me? :D
