That's nice of you to say. Thanks. And me? Mind flirting? You have so much to learn~ ;P
Hmm, fair enough. Is Valorie going to get the character development to eventually overcome that flaw, or is her destiny to be something other than a Trainer?
Well, she'd definitely try! Which brings to mind a question; was my portrayal of tactics in a Pokemon battle sufficient? I mostly based it on the metagame, 'cause it's the only place in "canon" where the most damaging move doesn't always win.
I do know about the Etherpad, but I don't...think I had any issues with it? I can load it up easily enough and everything, but I would like to be surprised. :3
I dare say you were not. There were others nominated, but the judges looked at your writing and chose you instead. (I know this because that's the only way to win if you don't get nominated) If you don't mind me flirting just a bit, I'd say you earned it from what I've seen~
I don't mind it really. It's mostly just that Olivia is already in her 30s and she is meant to be an average trainer at best. So I'll probably cap her levels for now and maybe allow them to rise later. Valorie's entire foil was that she tends to fall short of expectations despite working really dang hard, pun intended, so it drove me nuts that her pokemon were in the level range to roflstomp most of the rest of the roleplay.
Nemo? Nemo can be as strong as you want her to be. I'd wholefully embrace her kicking either of my student's butts. |D [Insert Masochism joke involving Olivia here]
Oh... You knew about the etherpad right? If memory serves right you were one of the people that had issues reading it. ('Tis a shame. It's such a useful little tool.) It came to my attention when you mentioned you didn't know Olivia's team, since it's listed in the etherpad.
I could just show you Olivia's team, or I could let you find out ICly. Whichever's more fun for you~
Well, Yellow, the career of a sage is of two kinds: She is either honored by all in the world, like a flower waving its head, or else she disappears into the silent forest. (Actually, I rather wasn't expecting it. I'm still rather suspicious of my being chosen, and suspect it may be because I'm the only new RPer around. :x )
That's understandable; Nemo, however, will gobble up all the levels she can get her hands on. d: As for cute Pokemon...'Twill be interesting to see which she's chosen! I personally think the Misdreavus line is one of the cutest.
My laptop is...not. xD I have about thirty games on Steam that I've only managed to play about four of, because I think it would explode if I tried any others.
I appreciate your kind words. |3 How does it feel to be recognized as the best new addition this quarter to our little family here on the RPC? (in the RPAs)
Also, about the question of digestive issues: Hah! Naaah. |D She literally went for a walk afterwards, content as ever~
Very well then! I will demonstrate Olivia's battling ability soon enough, though I can't garauntee I'll accept the levels from them. XP With how long I've been in the RP, I've found myself frustrated with how many levels my characters have gotten, to the point that I actually took away 10 entire levels from Valorie's entire team recently. (I do this because I don't want them to roflcurbstomp people. It's not consistent with the battling abilities I set for them in their SUs.)
I will warn you that Olivia's team is modeled after two themes. "Cute Pokemon" and "Flirt Power"
Also, it's cool. I know how you feel, only with Chrome. My computer is hyper-mega-super gaming quality and it still slows down sometimes due to tabs. |D
I'm generally good for inspiration, so don't feel too stressed out! I can't play a game for ten minutes without thinking of a story to write for it. d: Oh my; that's an interesting way to get somebody's attention; I hope they didn't go through any digestive issues after the fact.
I think it would be better for Olivia to battle, for the story, at least. Nemo's shown her prowess recently, and Olivia showing talent in a battle would foster respect in her. :3
Hmm...I may check it out, at some point. Though my Firefox is taxed enough already, because of tab explosions. :x
That's what I'm tryin' to avoid--You winding up with no inspiration. lD Sometimes people prove impossible to please, though. The stories I could tell about people that lose their inspiration no matter how much you try... One of my characters literally consumed another person's character once and they couldn't think of how to respond to that, and not because they were speechless either. My jaw hit the floor. (Convoluted pun intended)
I could think of a way to massively troll Nemo's apparent distaste for Eevee. It involves a person in an outfit that makes Olivia's look utilitarian and moar levels for Nemo, unless you'd rather watch Olivia battle.
Passive voice is when your tone conveyed through your writing comes off as weak, passive, spineless. It's not an error but it's considered bad writing anyway. I used to have lots of problems with it. Still do sometimes. So yeah. ATD can totally detect when you're not being assertive enough (to a degree)
I try not to make people wait; but sometimes I just don't have the inspiration to post. :x
Ahh, okay. Something I immediately think of it some way for Olivia to notice Nemo's quirks; eye twitch at the sight of Eevee, her unusual dedication to being "perfect", and attempts to heal those wounds for/with her, with silly results*. Meanwhile, there could be a situation that forces Hei and Nemo to work together somehow, or furthers their rivalry by ending with a punch to the face!
*Dressing up as an Eevee comes to mind. d:
I don't know how much I struggle with a passive voice; nobody's ever pointed it out, though, so...I guess I'm good with it?
As in, it follows a continuity instead of abiding by the Status Quo?
Oh! And yeah. After the deadline puts a little icon in the bottom right of text boxes that when clicked runs a spelling and grammar check. You have to tweak it in the options to get it to detect as much as it can though. (It can detect pseudo-errors like using a passive voice.) It might detect inappropriate semi-colonel. I actually don't know because I can never find a place for those in my writing. lD
But yeah the anime has a thing for deja ex machinas. Big surprise, no? To it's credit it is ironically he least episodic cartoon I can think of... like ever.
That actually reminds me of Final Fantasy. Thinkgs like whether type advantages actually matter are totally inconsistent though, as are the abilities of the main characters and hnnngh. |D Nothing mechanics wise is consistent with the anime.
Which is ironic because it's like, the least episodic cartoon in existence.
Regardless, it looks like you put plenty of work into it. That's for sure. :P I'm honestly unsure how many levels I should award them, or if you'd be offended if I were generous with them. What do you think? She'll be getting another 'reward' IC when I next post. (At this point I'm uncomfortable leaving Wolfy in the dust. ||P)
On an unrelated note, I like to use http://afterthedeadline.com/ for my spellchecking needs. It's very... advanced. It likes to point out that I don't demonstrate enough of a spine when I write. :P Not that you need it—I just thought I'd share~ x3
I take a creative liberty or two from the games to make things a bit easier. Also, to be fair the RP is technically based on the anime. I just prefer game logic because the anime is completely inconsistent with it's logic.
There's not much point in me forcing you to wait for me to make the Abomasnow use it's moves, don't you think? Frankly, you can feel free to finish up the battle in a single post and claim your reward.
I mean, unless you really want me to. It's an angry Abomasnow. Not a huge deal of depth behind it or anything. I'll definitely introduce it to Nemo in my next post though.
It is? I've only gleamed so much from all that I've read, but I did think that, in the games, everyone had all their Pokemon, but didn't use them so they could protect themselves on the way to the PokeCenter.
Yeah, I can understand not being able to defeat high-leveled Pokemon herself. d: Am I writing the entire battle?
Of course! It's a wild pokemon. Nobody's going to tell her she can only use so many. The six pokemon limit itself is only even enforced in battles against legitimate trainers. (Meaning thieves and whatnot best watch themselves)
Also, the violence rating? Heck no. It would however probably not be very effective, if you catch my drift. It'd totally impress Olivia though! |D
