April 28th, 2011 4:19 PMMeganiumGah, that's what I have to go through at my old college. Freshman year, my first assignment: write a 4 page essay on the history of computers. I had to do it on the very last minute and still manage to get a good grade on it. xD See how slacker-ish I was when I first started university? The lectures are fine, just that you might not be in front of the computer a whole lot, only on laboratory days.
I have thoughts of becoming a teacher teaching IT at a tech school. but it's more years of schooling for me. All I want to do is do something that can make me fix computers or just mess around with them. Right now I'm exploring my fields. Did I told you that next Thursday I'll be taking my Microsoft Certification Exam? I'm stoked about it, but at the same time, I'm pretty stressed.

April 28th, 2011 3:46 PMHybrid TrainerI'd find the lasso tool harder on a laptop "/
Well i doubt it, at uni i've heard that you pretty much go in hear a few lectures and then get told to write some massive essay. And since i'm planning on doing a teaching course i'd be in front of a class instead of sat at a computer. One of the many things i'm giving up xD -
April 28th, 2011 3:11 PMMeganiumOh, yes... the mighty lasso tool. I use that all the time as well. But I prefer using it when I'm on the laptop, though.
Yes, siree. I can do that. The Ubuntu OS is personally my choice. The other two are required. When you decide to study IT you may be able to do the same thing as what I'm currently doing. -
April 28th, 2011 8:43 AMHybrid Traineri always use the magnet lasoo tool to remove backgrounds :D and then i use that layer selection deeley to make it more precise ;D
Your school lets you load your own OS?!?!? D: that is freaking AMAZING! -
April 27th, 2011 8:18 PMMeganiumYeah, it's pretty much the first step in illustrator. I pretty much jumped ahead and learned how to use it by using the shape tools, and the pathfinder. In Photoshop, however, the magic wand is my favorite tool. I can get rid of background in front of images in a quick snap.
Haha, I'll explain. In school I get an external hard drive that's like.. 300GB of space. I can do aaaaanything I want with it as long as I have the correct OSs. I have to partition (cut the hard drive) in thirds. One part of the hard drive will have about 100GB of Windows XP. Another 100GB will have Windows 7, and the rest will have Ubuntu. Any questions, Mr. Ninetales? -
April 27th, 2011 4:52 PMHybrid TrainerThe pen tool was the very first thing that i was taught how to use in illustrator, that is how important the pen tool is xD
That actually confused me a little bit xD But i got the jist of what's going on with your computers xD -
April 27th, 2011 4:06 PMMeganiumSketching also helps too! I sketch a lot, but I don't really do the scanning part. The pen tool is a hard tool to use for me, but it's vitally important, right? I was taught to always use the pen tool instead of other tools, because that would consider cheating. lol
It's not a macbook. It's a crappy good-working Dell computer. I installed XP, Ubuntu (gotta have ubuntu on my system. :P) and Windows 7. Then, I installed Office 07 on two of the OSs. and installed Office 03 on my laptop, so I can work on the two computers at the same time. Pretty neat, huh. -
April 27th, 2011 1:49 PMHybrid TrainerIf I want a really precise shape I usually sketch itt out then scan it in and go over it with the pen too out then scan it in and go over it with the pen tool ^-^ Well not just bloody, offensive. One girl is making a movie promotion thingy about a film called tears of the clown or something that was never released. Her poster has a picture of hitler and kinda gortlifies him "/ and I dont think its advertising, its so that we can show that we know its a word processor or that ts a presentation software
3 OS's? Is it a macbook? -
April 27th, 2011 1:25 PMMeganiumI feel better when I draw in free hand form.
Oh, I see. So most of your classmates did bloody and gory stuff. I can imagine it looks pretty sick. Ah, so you can't really say the brand names when you're answering questions. I guess that's something to prevent advertising?
Grr. In school right now and I'm trying to reinstall my three OSs on my lab computer. This is going to take a while. >_> -
April 27th, 2011 9:49 AMHybrid TrainerWere you trying to draw free hand in illustrator? Because when I did that it was no fun at all "/
And most of the other people in my graphics class would kinda break PC rules, one of the briefs was for film 4's thrills and spills week. So most of it is bloody and offensive.
Not college as a whole, only when your answering questions. -
April 27th, 2011 9:05 AMMeganiumI tried using a graphic tablet on illustrator. It made things sooo much easier. Drawing using the mouse (or the laptop touchpad) was hell. The pathfinder is my best friend. Merging shapes is fun. :D
Oh, alright. I can't really say anything about teh designz. For once I thought you can't show it because it's breaking the PC rules. xD
You can't say brand marks at all in school? -
April 27th, 2011 3:15 AMHybrid TrainerA tablet in illustrator? I've never drawn free hand in illustrator x] everything looks cleaner if you use the autoshape tool and then pathfinder, merge to make a new shape :D
As soon as I've finished my exam ill show you my finished one, but I show it you now it could count as creative feedback which is breaking the rules.
How exciting :D sounds like an awesome project. We always get shouted at if we mention microsoft office xD apparently if we use brand names well loose marks. -
April 26th, 2011 9:41 PMMeganiumAhh, that's understandable. I think it's better until the exam period is over. I can imagine it's still going on. Illustrator is fine, as long as I have a tablet (which it's much better) I'll be making pretty good graphics.
Yeah, I have to. Have to learn to configure it, troubleshoot it, and other fun stuff. I was given a giant book which requires me to carry a larger backpack. It's 100 pounds. -_- -
April 26th, 2011 7:38 PMHybrid TrainerWell i don't think i can show it because the exam period isn't finished. if im not aloud to work on it i don't think i'm aloud to post it online.
And i used to hate illustrator aswell until i started looking at johnathan ball :D he's awesome!
You have to study office? -
April 26th, 2011 7:26 PMMeganiumWait, you can't show off your stuff? Is it offensive or something? I guess you can show me by PM. And I saw your DA stuff, you're pretty good, especially with Adobe Illustrator. I'm not that fond of Illustrator as I've used it a little during my graphic design days at my old college.
Yes, I've gone back to school. I'm done with dreadful Server 08 and now focusing on Office 03 and Office 07. I hate them both. I prefer Office 10.
