September 6th, 2008 11:59 PMAlter EgoAstyyy...you're back in blue! =D
So, does this mean I can bug you with VMs and actually have the seen in a timely fashion huh? Does it? *Pokes repeatedly* -
August 17th, 2008 7:39 PMAstinusIt's not really really good-bye. This is the only fandom I have in common with a lot of my friends, so I'm not going to completely abandon ship. It's just that between nearly losing complete interest in Pokemon and a whole bunch of real life stress going on, something had to go. And I just couldn't handle being a moderator anymore. It's not something I want to delve into in any great detail.
So I'll still be around, if I ever feel like talking to people in this fandom again. But for the most part, I've moved on to other things and am feeling really happy again. -
August 17th, 2008 1:56 AMAlter EgoSo...I just read your post in the mod/admin lounge. D:
I can't say this was entirely unexpected given your last few LJ entries, but I didn't know it would be so soon. Oh well, here's hoping that the n00b brigade will finally catch a clue and leave you alone, and thanks for all the work you put in during your time on the staff. ^^ (I totally sound like an employer who's about to give someone the boot now, but W/E)
So...will you still be hanging around the forums in a non-modly capacity or is this goodbye? ;; -
August 15th, 2008 2:10 AMAlter EgoProblem with that kind of message is, though, that the clueless people spamming your PM are usually the ones who don't know how to read anything in the first place. D: Besides, I'd have to devote space in my sexy signature for n00bs? ;; Nooo...can't do it. >.<
And yeah, I think this other guy asked me to get him something he sent to Loki's PM box. Talk about asking for the impossible...I mean, why do they think those are called private messages anyway? xP
And...the members of your section actually read those rules? Astyyy! You must trade some of those to meeee! ;; No-one reads the rules here except the people who have no issues with following them already, then they go and whine about me infracting them because 'they didn't know'. *Rolls eyes* I don't think of the infraction system as pointless, though; after all, once they hit nine points they're out of my hair for the next two weeks. That thought alone is already enough to give me a warm, fuzzy feeling. :3
Oh, and the rule-breaker person? He's still breaking the one-paragraph rule (him and everyone else in that thread). I mean seriously, I've shoved the rules under his nose three times now, rules which even contain an example of how long an acceptable paragraph must be, and he's still not getting it. *Headdesk* Ah well, he's on thread warning number two now, so if I see one more rule break in that thread it's going down harder than a Castle of Dark Illusion whose flotation ring has been knocked off by a turtle-launched dragon champion. <<
Oh, and I just love my little n00bs. You see, the problem with the notorious one-paragraph rule in our section has always been that the original definition (four lines of text) is heavily dependent on what kind of monitor and forum layout you're using, so - to remedy this problem - I and Loki set up the aforementioned example paragraph to create a non-subjective definition for 'pargraph' and avoid faultily handing out infractions and warnings. And guess what happens? People whine over the loss of their 'it's four lines on my monitor!' excuse, completely oblivious to the fact that this new definition is actually more lenient than I would be if I got to do things by the old guideline. Oh, forumites are such silly people. XD
Anyhow, things are going fine enough for me. I'm studying in open university this autumn, and since my courses haven't started yet I'm still on vacation. ^^ Not much special going on, though, since after the army and the family trip to France I'm mostly just enjoying some 'do-nothing-special' time. Just trying to gather the inspiration to actually write a definite first chapter for my OT so I can gosh darn post it already (I swear this project has blown all timeframes out of the window ><) while keeping in pace with the RPs I'm in. -
August 14th, 2008 1:41 PMAstinusI know. ;_;
Just scan back a few pages on my profile, and you'll see many instances of the first item on my list. Why people think I won't look at reports, I don't know. But it does get very annoying, since I can hardly keep track of conversations with my friends because I have to scroll past multiple messages of "this thread needs closed".
On the plus side, you can add that message that you've seen in other mods' signatures: "No, I won't approve your RMT/hack". Now you know the pain of people asking you to do things that you just can't do. Previously, I had questions about the D/P/P section, and I have no idea what's going on there. Which is why I know lurk in invisible mode, so "normals" can't see when I'm on.
Oh man. *facepalm* I've had people read the rules and still ask me if they could bump threads. And let's not forget those who think that infracting people is pointless.
But now that you're a mod, you can definitely see a lack of intelligence in the typical forumite. You just begin to lose your faith in humanity, and hold on tightly to those who are the shining beacons of intelligence in this dense fog of stupidity.
And aside from reading books and playing computer games, nothing's going on with me. How's everything, aside from the fun of modding, for you? -
August 14th, 2008 2:54 AMAlter EgoAstyyy....been forever since I last talked to you. ;;
So anyway, I just read your last journal entry and I must say I can only imagine the stuff your wading through here. I mean, I haven't been at this job for even a week yet (and in a section with far less activity too) and already I've had one person who insisted that I should approve his RMT thread, one who wanted...well, I'm not quite sure what he wanted because I asked and he never replied. x.O It was something about a half-finished plot that he wanted to have back or something. *Shrug* Aaand then there was this guy who, after I slapped a thread warning on him for rulebreaking, gave an infraction for breaking the rule again right after I told him off, and sent him a visitor message telling him to stop breaking the freaking rule already (because he broke it a third time after the infraction), finally sent me a PM and asking 'where are the rules?'. *Facepalm* I'm beginning to lose faith in the intelligence of our forumites. D:
Must be nothing new for you, though. So, what's up? ^^ -
July 4th, 2008 2:28 PMAlter Ego*Pokes back incessantly*
Oh, enjoying it I am. It's half past one AM here and I'm still going strong. xD (Got to keep it hushed, though, since my folks like to sleep at night and I'm technically not allowed to be on the computer at this time of the night) There's just sooo much to type, though. I've still got three half-finished profiles (and a single unwritten one) to finish, one random one-shot which I intend to get into writing before I completely loose my mood for it, and the work that I've been promising myself (and just about anyone who cares to listen) to get done on my pet OT.
And the reviews, too; three of those to go. And all the new topics I want to answer out and about on the forums. AND the PMs. Whee! Looks like it's a posting spree for me this weekend. =D
Gawd, this is precisely why I've missed PC so much. xD
Aaanyway, I should probably be crawling off to bed right about now so I won't be completely wasted tomorrow. Thanks for the welcome back and all. :3 -
July 4th, 2008 2:16 PMAstinus*pokes*
Glad to have you back. I'm sure that you're enjoying your freedom now. -
June 30th, 2008 8:36 AMAlter EgoNEVAR! The reviewers of the rebellion shall never be bested by you, evil dictator of the FF section! I shall continue to slide beneath your fiendish posting restrictions with loquacious impunity! xO
I also pwn you at poking. *Poke*
And yeah, these guys sure love their tear gas, almost as much as the freakin' jogging laps. I swear, whenever they can't think of anythign worthwhile to occupy our time they send us jogging two laps around the captains' quarters. (Now there's a route I'll be glad not to see in a long while)
And now...I shall give you a poke for each day in the mili I have left.
*Poke*
*Poke*
*Poke*
*Super special awesome liberated no-more-military-service-for-me poke of doom*
I win again. =P -
June 30th, 2008 2:05 AMAstinusI'll get you someday, Alter Ego. Next time! You won't sneak under the no-bump rule next time.
Though, I did laugh at the idea of you getting tear gas attempted to be thrown at you while in the military. XD
*poke* -
May 16th, 2008 11:52 AMAlter EgoThat is still an 'if', though given the amount of time that thing has spent at the back of my mind, I doubt that I'll have any other way to get the dang thing out of my head. XD It will probably take time, though, as it's still only a diversion to keep my muse from getting bored with my pet OT...
...which I should really be writing on now, actually, except that I keep getting distracted with winning children's card games on my DS while cursing the game makers for getting their special summoning rulings messed up and giving the AI an undeserved win because I can't spring Inferno Reckless Summoning on them. >.< *Sigh* Shouldn't have made such a fast deck...it's too tempting to just keep doing for one more duel when most of them don't last more than two or three turns each. :\[/Card game addict]
But yeah, leaving aside personal YGO rants that really weren't the topic here to begin with, sure; I'll let you see the fic when/if it's finished. x3 As for the mili...well, it's been interesting this week, I'll give it that. I mean, it's not every day you go out and march from 8 AM to about 3:30 AM the next morning without rest (not counting small breathing, food, and equipment correction pauses) in full field gear (30 kg), cross a small lake by wading, get sprayed with tear gas, and generally wear your body out to the point where you have to take a double dose of heavy-duty painkillers just to manage walking.
In layman's terms, I had my beret march this week, and to add to the joy our map readers were completely clueless, resulting in the entire 8-man group marching an extra 10 kilometers and losing about four hours of our promised six-hour sleep period. x.O Wednesday through today was pretty uneventful, though, as everybody's feet were broken down, making it impossible to really have us do anything productive. (let me tell you, it's not a nice feeling to pull of a boot only to find the entire right-hand side of its interior covered in blood...and I got off easy. We all waded like penguins when marching to the dining hall for the rest of the week because there were so many sores and abrasions to avoid. Must have been priceless for the others to watch. XD) so the rest was basically muscle restoration exercises and lots upon lots of rest. It was absolute hell while it lasted, but in retrospect it doesn't feel too bad now. I made it through, my feet have almost recovered, and I've now earned myself a day of vacation for completing the march. I've got army camp next week, and the whole triple-camp special (no vacations in between) starting two weeks thereafter, but then that's about all the military service I have left so yay for that.
49 days and I'm officially a civilian again. :3
49 days.
Egads.
Ahem, anyways, sorry for the delayed reply; we had a network blackout at the brigade so I couldn't sneak myself onto the intraweb this week. Still, I hope you're doing well with PC and life in general (and your drinking over the needy fanfic writers we all love xD), I'm still going to try to get something written on my fanfic tonight, and at least one of my poor little characters is going to find out precisely how a pair of feet feels after walking 50 kilometers in one day before I'm done, let me tell you that. >D *Wanders off while cackling maliciously to self* -
May 6th, 2008 9:16 AMAstinusBut I would love to see the Skitty x Wailord crack!fic. Share it when you write it. ;~;
And in the Lounge, I admitted that the members would drive me to drink, because they just want, want, want. I was behind in getting the May prompt for the Fanfiction Challenge posted (by four days) and people just whined. But hey, I don't mind. XD
How's military life treating you? -
May 6th, 2008 7:42 AMAlter EgoHah! Another forumite fallen to the irresistable lure of Wailord x Skitty. I'm one step closer to world domination. >D
I'm afraid all the pink might be affecting my mental state, though...the other day I actually found myself toying with ideas for a crack fic on the pairing. o.O Now there's something that, if it is ever written, will get locked up in a hidden folder deep within the recesses of my hard-drive and have its existence vehemtly denied. xD
Anyways, how are things going, new friend of mine? Have the people in the lounge managed to drive you to the brink of insanity yet? =O -
May 5th, 2008 7:48 PMAstinusYour profile is the greatest one I have seen so far. I need to friend you now.
